I set my gains with a DMM and this song plays higher than the test tone?

I set my gains with a dmm. I disconnected my subwoofer, then played a 50hz tone and set the gains to 32.0 v

Set the subsonic filter by playing a 30hz test tone and setting the gain to 30v. Then set the highpass filter by playing a 100hz tone and setting the gain to 28v

I plugged the sub in, and played 'turn off the lights' by hollywood undead, and it was going from 30v to 42v with the beat.
42v is 1600w with my sub and amp, and the sub is only rated for 1000w rms :X

Is this what a 'burp' is? is it ok to have this happen? Does this mean that the song I have is recorded at a higher DB than most other songs?

btw the setup is a sundown saz1500 and a 12'' dc lvl 4

song is recorded differently than your test tone.

You probably set your gains with a -3db test tone, and that song may be recorded at 0db.

    No, that's not a "burp."

Is this the only song that does this? Every once in a while, you'll get a music file or album that's recorded at +10 db or something like that. Just find a different torrent.

Alright thanks, yeah thats the only song it does it with.

so does my amp put out more at the box's tuning frequency?

Because I didn't notice a difference between playing the 30 hz sine wave and a 70 hz sine wave (Until I adjusted my crossovers)

Think about the statement i bolded. Does that make ANY sense?

your vehicle will be loudest at its peak resonating frequency. It has nothing to do with amp power output.
