*help: need some bass but want no sub*

hey guys...what kind of 6x9's can i go with that offer some sort of mid bass or provide deep bass? i don't want to run a subwoofer anymore (gutted car for racing)...so far i have a pioneer deck and boston acoustic components...maybe i'll run a small 4 channel sub...thanks for the input

I'd say ditch the 6x9 idea and get a pair of 8's....RE8's, EDA8's, ID8's, etc. etc.

If 6x9s will fit, you should (hopefully) be able to find a way to make some 8's fit. 6x9s will do more harm than good, IMO

I'd suggest getting some beefy mid's up front. One of those custom 6 1/2" 's with a monster motor should do the trick for you. Look around on ebay. A bunch of high end companies have a few mid's that can reach down to 45Hz...... They might cost you more than a pair of 8" woofers.......but thats would definetly be the way to go if your serious about weight.

Also look into the 8" Hertz components. They're built with the motor on top of the cone...so they are about and 1 1/2" deep and have alot of cone area........ Heard these in a trans_am w/o any subs and they do a good job in the low end as well as all around. I'd say these are a metal heads dream.....they get "make ur ears bleed loud" when coupled with a good amp. Not too expensive either...and very very unique look. :p
