    2 12inchers Vs Jl W7 10 inch

I have two 12 type R subwoofers with a Tsunami Amp in a Vented box. If i got a Jl 10inch W7 in a H.O Wedge Box with the 500/1 amp would the W7 beat the alpines in SQ and Spl?

My guess would be that the two subs would be louder than the W7 (but I'd want to know what specific amp, tuning of the box, etc before I could say that for sure). The W7, however, should easily be a better SQ sub, while still being able to get pretty loud.

    the w7 would win.

    i know this b/c i had 2 12w6v2s ported vs 12w7 ported..

those alpines don't come close to the 12w6v2s but yet a 10w7 did.

u do the math, but i think a 10w7 wins in sq and wins in spl too... why put a type r in a ported box?

if price isnt' an issue i say get a brahma and call it a day!

I think the Type R's should have the edge in displacement...so they should have more output. I think the 10W7 is right around 25mm one way, or even less than that.

Why can't you port a Type R? Care to explain?

i wouldnt port a Type R either..theyr not SPL subs. They sound real good so i dont see any point in porting a SQ sub. if so id tune real low.

What makes them a supposed 'SQ' sub?

    They can be ported. Period.

They will sound as good as you make them sound.

They will get as loud as you make them get.

They are subwoofers. They all do the same exact thing, which is move air.
