Alpine 9813 does NOT ****, i fixed it

Hey guys i took all your advice and just sat there forever tuning stuff up. I figured my problem. without MX on you get almost no bass. Plus i had my bandwidth set at 3 wghich also makes less base. It distorted early because the EQ curve needed to be changed. I left it flat to start. No i have it at 80 (was 63) made BIG difference. also i changed the width to wider.

what through me at first was they are no labbled "bass" or "trebble" settings. i dug out the physics book and found out what bandwidths and stuff were.

THe thing that was wrong was i didnt know how to take the bass out of the speakers, and increase the bass for the subs. Now its all good and im happy with this deck

    GREAT BUY!!!

Well you figured out how to set it.....Alpines are notorious for being hard to learn, because theres a lot of features and it takes time to figure out what button does what, how to change everything, etc. etc. But once you look through the manual or just play around with the HU for awhile, it becomes second nature.

I'm still learning new **** on my alpine(in the sig). Some of the stuff i have no idea what it does. What does the bandwidth do/effect? I saw this and was wondering. Also, anybody else know any little tricks/tips with my head unit? I want it to be as sweet as possible. Although, it does sound pretty sweet. Don't even need an amp for the highs, the headunit powers my speakers pretty good. I actually had to turn down the treble.

thats what the manual is for man. But yea for coaxials a good HU does a decent job. Although it still doesnt compare to getting a seperate amp. I just amped my infinity reference 5.25 coaxials for now until my crystal components come in. The difference is amazing. I could practically do without the the new components but i cant wait to see how they sound if these crappy coaxials sound this good....

all you guys telling us to look at the manuals go to the alpine site and look at one for yourselves. It doesnt explain what stuff does, it just tells you what buttons to press if you wanna change it. Manuals are mostly useless

Exactly, it doesn't tell you what stuff affects, just how to change it. Oh well, i guess you just gotta play it by ear. That manual is thick as hell too.

Yes, that's why you look at the manual to get a quick run-down, then go outside and play around with the HU for an hour rather than complaining about it....

Re: Alpine 9813 does NOT ****, i fixed it

you can tell the difference just by watching your speakers. at 1 the mid bass part of the speakers goes in and out really far. at 4 it barely moves. I ddint find a difference in the sound really. All it affected was the distortion. on 1 my speakers distored at like volume 23, at 4 they distorted at like 27.....

Oh crap. I thought it was 4 which was widest. Time to sit in the garage for a couple of hours. . .

Page 13 of the manual, 1 is narrowest with 4 being the widest. I remember seeing a post from Jmac about tuning your amps and stuff but I haven't been able to find it. That was a good tutorial. Maybe if Jmac sees this he'll link it.
