Is there a reason why most clamshells are narrow????

I didn't know if it is because of space constraints or... I just always notice most clamshells that I see that are successful ported and non seem to be very narrow....Is there a technical reason they aren't more of a wide V instead of a narrow V like most of the succesful ones seem to be. Now there again it could be just the ones I have seen... please respond

please show a pic of what you are calling a clamshell. That used to be a term for pairing subs face to face in an isobarik enclosure.

The clam shell on one of my ex-girlfriends was huge. I got an extra 3 DB's when she rode in my car though.

I believe its more to do with space constraints rather then choice. But it seems to work just fine.
