I just installed a new cd player that had 3 preamp outputs so i ran 2 new rcas. well, at first everything worked fine, no alt noise or anything. i had my ground loop isolator hooked up to my bass. Today i hook up my tweeters to my amp and all of a sudden i get the dreaded alternator whine. Later on, I put the ground loop isolator on my front speakers and all of my speakers have the whine. Your help would be appreciated.
I would take the ground loop isolators out completly and just re-run all your wiring and make sure your grounds are all clean and secure. Using a ground loop isolator is more of a bandaid than a solution; it helps the problem, but doesn't fix it completely.
Re: Alternator Whine???
I found out what was wrong, when i was screwing my panel back on i screwed right through the rca. i just put the ground loop isolator on the other rca and split it to my amp. ill get another rca one of these days.
