new to forums, have a question

    hello all,

I am new to these forums and i was wondering if someone could help me with a question. I have been through alot of subs and amps in the last few years and have stopped with them all together after i went to college. I am now in a position i can afford a system and wanted to know if anyone has used or heard a system with, 1- 12w7 and the jl 1000/1, i dont have the supposed jl "hard-on" but have used kicker, jl, rockford, and alpine subs and amps here and there, and always liked jl the most. i am just wondering if the 1000/1 is plenty for 1 12w7 or if more would be needed. tia

REASON WHY I SAY 2 10s OVER 1 12.. is b/c u can save money on amps and have more power/spl...

2 10s off hifonics bx1500d runnin at 1.5 ohms -1250 rms which is 625 per sub...... true rms of 10w7 is only 500 watts.........

that will be louder and cheaper.....

    if u got 12w7 u **** sure gotta get a jl1000/1

I have to say I agree with Limitkid7 here. I think the two 10'2 would be better than 1 12. I dont have any experience with JL but I would have to say that knowing what I know, and then lookin at what Limit said, that two 10's might be better, in some cases.

I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE..... i have a w7 and a 1500watt amp, but b/c of the ohm load i can only squeeze about 750 out of my amp..... i have thought about other options.....

i say 2 10w7s besides they really are 10.5 in size..

FINALLY - like i said that bx1500d would be ideal for that setup... 625 is perfect!

thank you for the suggestion of 2 10's, i was originally saying 1- 12 because i know the w7's need more room than most subs as far as enclosures ago, i have a 98 jeeg grand cherokee, when i ran 2- 15's i had to take out the spare tire and hope i never got a flat, **** jeeps and spare tires in the cargo area. no i dont play hokey, i live in bay area where the nearest ice rink is like an hour and a half away. Would the 2- 10's fit comfortably in my jeep ?

not to say JL is bad
but slow down a little bit.

hit some shops or hook up with some of these guys around you and demo some stuff.

there are so many brands out there.

and yess some of them are overpriced.
    some are cheap.
some are good bang for the buk.

i personally like the single sub setup. of course i went from a pair of 10's to a single 12.
i also paid for my music for me to listen to. not the neighbors.
besides that is just advertisement for a thief.

    just my opinion of course.

what are you gonna run for a stage?
since the sub only plays mayb 50 or 60 hertz you would think it to be important to have something good to play the other 19,000 freqs.

Where i live there are 3 local car audio shops, actually only 2, both are authorized JL dealers, and both feed me constant bs about how much better JL are than everything, i know they overstate JL's ability, but JL are still a reliable and good sub in my experience, I would like to hear other setups but these shops do not sell other subs, other than JL and kickers.

Wether i run 1-12 or 2-10's i would not be playing my music for everyone around me. I live in a bad area as it is. All i can do is cover it with the cover thing, cant remember what its called. I would still prefer to be able to have the most spl out of the setup because i want to put 4 boston acoustic component speakers.

I am sorry but i have no idea what that stuff means, i never learned too many technical things.
