    Icon32 ALPINE CDA-7897 or CDA-9815 ??

    Hi all,

I am looking for one of top of the line Alpine cd/mp3 player for my
Prelude 98. These 2 models are looking very new today.
I believe the CDA-9815 is newer model (2003) have few more features and it has 60watt X4 power.

The CDA-7897 has the Fantom face technology , 50wX4 . It has less features than the CDA-9815 and it was last year 02 model . I really don't know which one is the best looking HU & sound for my car ???? Please give me some feed back & advices. Thanks

I have the 7897 and IMO it is the best head unit I have ever owned in my 10 years in the game. I just when on www.alpine.com and checked out the 9815 and it looks impessive. Both have just about all the same features, 9815 has a bigger internal amp but that does not matter if you are going to run a separate amps for your highs and the 7897 has the phantom face which is real cool..

I really like the 7897 and I would say go with it or go one level up and get the 7997.

    Thanks for your infor.
I couldn't wait, but I just bought 9815 from Ebay for net $360 at door !!!!!
7897 has the fantom face is too cool, but somehow I decided for the newer model 9815 which has few more features than the 7897.

    Re: ALPINE CDA-7897 or CDA-9815 ??

    Man,
I installed it under the sun right on my driveway at 12 noon yesterday. After 2 hours I couldn't wait for the ignition click to hear the first tune from the CDA-9815. Oh boys, it sounds so good that make my sweat dry off completely ; The tilt angle function is too cool for the eyes. My brother want it for his car right away !Now, my next task is searching for the speakers !
I am looking at the Infinity Kappa 6x9 for the rear, and the MB Quartz component for the fronts/tweeter. Should I buy extra Amps to run these speakers too ? well, I have to find out.
