    Opinions wanted on new setup

I am just getting back into car audio and things have changed so much in the little time I have been away that I am haveing to start from scratch and relearn everything.

I am starting to setup a new system for my extended cab Ranger. In the past I have had favor for the Kicker brand speakers and would like to incorporate a pair of 10's into my new system. I am looking for good spl but not to the point I can't understand the music. Here is what I have planned so far:

    2- 10" Kicker Comp VR's
    1- Kicker KX400.2 amp
Sealed 3/4 MDF enclosure (.81 cu. ft.)
    Pioneer DEH-2500 HU

I will add 2-4 sets of 6x8, 2 way spkrs. in the doors and rear compartments later. I may or may not use an amp to drive these.

What does everyone think? Should I go for the dual voice coil comp's (VR) or am I wasting my $$ and should just go w/ the standard comp's? If I am totally screwing up then please recomend a set up of the same $$. Thanks

well that would be a good starter setup. It all depends on how much u want to spend on ur system. I dont know anything about Pioneer HU's but i hear they are very decent. Tell how much u will spend on a amp/sub combo and we can suggest u the best for the money.

also for speakers u wont need 2-4 sets of em. Get one nice 6.5 component set and an amp to power em and that will be more than enough.

I know it's low but I would like to keep it around $500. My main concern is to get a good thump and still be able to understand the music, if that makes sense. I have been doing some heavy research for the last couple of weeks trying to bring myself up to speed. But now I need real person opinions. All help is greatly appreciated.

Well.....not too many people like em here. The subs are SPL subs they dont have much SQ. The amps are fine but they are very expensive. definetly not worth the money. I know what u mean when u want basss but also wana hear ur music. kicker comps would be good, i suggest u look into elemental design K series for 120 a piece u cant beat that for the price www.edesignaudio.com

well the setup sounds ok. u won't need any 6x8's. those subs will give u the bass so u will need some good highs and mids. some 6.5's would do nicely in the door. an amp to run those would make it complete. pioneer headunits r very nice. those kickers will do well sealed.
