A slot port is using a piece of MDF a measured distance from the front edge of the box. It has to come out to a certain volume or it will not be tuned to a specific frequency which makes it basically the same as a regular port. I have seen and heard them yet never built one so hopefully Ramos will chime in and expound a bit for our education.

Technically they are both equal in performance. But try going and buying a piece of 12" diameter PVC pipe. The reason alot of people use slot ports or square ports is due to te flexibility they have. You can pretty much make any size you want. Your only limitations are your imagination and the size of the box. Which one to use ? Whichever you feel the most comfortable with. Just remember to leave room betwee the end of the port and the back of the enclosure. I wil say one thing. Depending upon design of the enclosure. It's usually easier to go back and change a round port if you don't like the sound of the enclosure, than a square or slot port.
Ramos did you use some type of software to calculate box size and port or did you use the T & E method? I could use as much info as you can provide.. I have a friend that wants to build a local comp car..He has come to me for help..I have never gone above and beyond MFG specs.

I use a program from a website that I can't remember right off hand. As a starting point. I'll give you the link to the site when I get home. After that Trial and error.
