Single A - 1200 watts..

well i finished my SPL box.. 4 cubes, 49 hz.. housing one 15" A. Hooked it up today just to my one 1200.1 cause i have all week before the comp.. and I have to say, the theory

"double wattage" - 3db's
"1 more subwoofer" - 3db's

2 15" A's 1200watts = 1 15" A 1200 watts

turns out true.. I didnt have my gain up as much either.. It sounded about the same.. did hit low end well (49 hz) but it sounded OK.. bearable for the time being.. After saturday we'll see how the A holds up to 2400 watts... (I'm sure 1200 watts isnt all to much, but still pushes it)

how u gona hook up 2 amps to one sub? i thot the A's were SVC

A's are 2 ohm DVC with the exception of the 8A being 4ohm DVC

I'll have pics later, but it doesnt look good, lol. The sub/port face the front, so when u open my trunk all it is is a big box..

Both amps will run at 2 ohms.. each to a voice coil.

AND UPDATE: I remember with my SE's that at 1 ohm, and playing them fully, I'de get some good light dimmage.. So I bumpin yesturday and I realize my lights arnt dimming a bit, so that means I HAVE more power to feed.. (in my mind) so I go back there, and I hadnt played with th gains at all, just kept them down , so I guess it was at that point where if u turned it like 1/8 turn it gave a way bigger signal, so NOw I have to say..

1 15" A 1200 watts, large ported box BEATS 2 15" A's 1200 watts (shared), smaller ported box..

But box's were tuned differently, which could affect it greatly.. just letting u all kno!

yea tune them the same freq and the 2 15's would definitely be louder than 1

so ur saying the double wattge = 3db's, and another sub = 3 db's is wrong ?

doubling the wattage doesn't always mean an automatic 3dB gain, it varies. Having 2 subs is not a automatic gain of 3dB either. Actually, it is around a 6dB gain since your doubling the displacement

true, but while doubling displacement, u drop wattage, which means less air movement. I dunno.. I'm sure it varies with variables and such, but I really like the A with this wattage..

yup, jus hangin out. ill be bringing it to the competition just for show and if i blow my other one . Might sell to my sister, lol.. but i dunno whats its plans are yet.. Might attempt street B, use 2 mmats amps on one A, my jbl's on the other.. only if i get bored.. We'll SEE...
