    Pioneer/kenwood or Clarion?

I need a decent deck. I am selling my Sony ES C-910 and I know that it will be hard to match the SQ of the C-910 but I am wondering which of these is better quality.

I am leaning towards a Clarion since I already had one and it was fine.

I am looking at a HX-D10 Clarion. I do not need internal power so why waste the room in the HU for the parts? I heard that a powerless deck was better if you didn't need the power. Also the Clarion has 2 24 bit converters or whatever . My C-910 has 4 20 bit converters so I am trying to get as close to that as possible for sound quality.

I am not sure about the Kenwoods although I had one before I got my Clarion. I like the Excellons but do not know about the quaLITY of them these days. I loved my old Clarion but a channel went bad so I got the C-910. It plays very clean at full volume and sounds great but I have decided that it is more than I need and can't get the most out of it for my purposes. SO I need something a little simpler . I do not want everyone to know I have a nice stereo so they will not want to steal it. if i keep the Sony then add the dsp eq I have then they will see I have a sytem and want to steal it. I travel and do not want to worry about having someone smash my window one day while I am at work.

    I heard Kenwoods **** these days....I don't know. I can get a refurb HX-D10 pretty cheap.....

The Kenwood Excelon(KDC-X859) Has a feature that lets you kill the output on the main speaker connections. They say that that will increase the quality of the output through the preouts but I am unable to use that feature. The only thing I have used this feature for is if I only want my subs playing it will kill the rest of the speakers.

When my Clarion got stolen I replaced it with a Pioneer and have been regreting it ever sense. It seems like Pioneer relies souly on bass whereas the Clarion had incredible SQ. Thats just my experience.

10 minutes after install the Clarion sounds better than the Sony C-910 ever did. Of course I did not use the ES C-910 to it's full potential but right out of the boxthe Clarion sounds better to me.

I went from kenwood to clarion. I like the clarion although I honestly didn't hear any SQ differences. The Clarion just had more features and looks better.
