New to the forum... I crave input.

Hey guys, found this gem of a forum while looking for prices on Subs and an Amp. Now I don't claim to be brilliant when it comes to car stereo, but I think I set up a decnt system thus far. In my car at the present time, and mind you this is my first system...don't hurt me too badly :

    Pioneer DEH-P2500 w/Remote
6.5 Pioneer TS-G1647 in the doors
6x8 Pioneer TS-A6870R in the rear deck

All in all...it sounds clean...but I still crave BASS .

My initial plans are to get 2 Alpine E12's, an 800 watt Pioneer Amp (GM-X972) (Cap to come as money permits), and a Q-Logic bandpass box. Being that my choices are limited to my cash flow this is what I came up with. Also I will be rewiring all speakers and running 4 GA wire to the Amp, all Scosche wires. Dynamat will be lining my trunk and once I get the cash my doors and rear deck as well. I am basically looking for approval or recomendations on what else I could get for about the same cash (using Crutchfield pricing as an example, but I will be shopping around for better pricing). Any input is of course greatly appreciated . And for reference, my ride is a 1989 Ford Taurus SHO 5 Spd. .

the Taurus SHo - nice choice...
I would suggest not going with teh Type E's... not very well made subs... go instead with Type S's... or another brand entirely. teh differnece in price i sMORE than worth it over those Type E's.

Definately stay away from bandpass. Nasty sq. But sounds good so far. I got a cap if you want it. I will let it go for 40 shipped.

    Welcome to the forum..

btw, you seem to give the notion that you don't want to spend an awful lot on a system/install. If that is so, stay away from pre-made boxes and go with custom boxes. There's SOOOO much info (even where to purchase the materials from) that you'd have no problem making a killer box.

If you still think you can't, well, there are members that are willing to build a box for near cost...

    p.s. My advice, don't mention JL's..:p

    Bass drive-by's are uncool.

Thank you guys for your comments. As stated up a few posts about the Type S's, I just changed to those for the future order (in a week or so when my check comes). I was also checking out prebuilt boxes. Bandpass just got a violent shove out of the order (another thanks) . Now for the next question....where is a good place to get pre-built boxes for a good price, and how about brands? Q-Logic boxes don't look half bad, but I am concerned how the subs will play in them. I have my eye on the ported box that you can cut the port to suit listening style/best quality sound. Yes I know, I should build my own, and I will in due time....I just need a few practice runs . If anyone on here can produce a similar box that resembles this one: http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=1&cc=01&avf=Y , how much would you charge for it plus shipping to Erie, PA? Thanks for future responses, and a great big thanks for the recommendations (although my neighbors might not feel so warm and fuzzy when this whole thing hits my doorstep ).

Stay away from Dynamat, it is extremely over priced. PM ifandorbuts to get some of his deadening material, I have heard good things about it.

As for the box Q, I don't think you will find anyone here that is a fan, or will reccomend for that matter, a pre-fab box. You can make one your self like the one you are looking at for about $25...now would be a good time to practice. I would make you one for about $40+s/h...sorry, I'm all out of those speaker covers. I know there are people on here that make boxes that are closer to you though so you don't get bent over for s/h charges. Post something in the box forum.

Well with 140 dollars you could.............

    Buy 4 sheets of wood=60
    1/2 pound box of screws=15ish
    Caulk and Caulk gun=10

grand total=85ish which is still 55 dollars lower and probably about 5 of those boxes you want to buy. In conclusion build your own.
