Announcing my retirement from car audio.

Well, this pains me in every way possible, because I never even fully got into car audio for that matter, and have wanted a system sooooooo bad.

I have wanted a system seriously for three years, but due either to age, or car, I was unable to get one. So this Christmas I got a car(02 Xterra) and was excited to have the opportunity to install a nice system(see sig) Well I had acquired most of it, and was about to install, when I was thinking to myself...my alternator won't be able to handle this, maybe I should get a new one. So I mention this to my Dad and he replies that I should check to see if this would void my warranty(we are currently having problems with our 03 CRV's computer) so I thought that was a good idea. I head over to Nissan and come to find out that I can have aftermarket parts and still fall under the warranty. The only stipulation is that they msut be installed correctly. Correctly is a very lose term and my Dad says that almost anything that goes wrong will be attributed to either a new alt or system even if it was installed correctly they most likely won't honor it. And I simply can't afford(nor can my parents) to pay for a new computer or electrical components. Not now, and probably not later So now I am sitting here with almost everyhtng jsut a few short days before I was going to install all of it...and I can't. Now I have it boxed up ready to be returned/sold.

So be on the lookout for some items popping up in classified from me, because I cannot have a system

It was nice being on the board, I learned a lot, though it seems that spending all this time on here was an utter waste as this is the end result, thankls a lot, but thanks, well...for nothing

why dont u just get a less powerful setup. that pushes under 1000 watts. Im using a JBL 1200.1 on a 93' bmw 318i stock alternator with 150k miles on it. everythings great. I definetly dont think u should have to sell ur stuff and not get a system because of this.

because any type of aftermarket installation, would run the chance of voiding the warranty, that and my car has a 70 amp alternator

I only have 5000 miles, and like I said I really can not afford to have my computer **** up because I want a system, believe me I have thought and thought about this, but there is no easy way around it at all.

Yes, get a smaller amp! And even if you don't, why would you retire from here? It's a great place...even if you don't have a system

My Neon has an 83a alternator and it's handling my JBL 600.1 perfectly

And why is a system gonna mess up your computer?

WHOA how did you say **** and it didn't bleep it out?

I see you live in Winston Salem...we can meet up sometime and look at your electrical system and I can pretty much determine what will/won't be okay. Hit me up on AIM as well...

The term correctly means no cutting of factory wiring what so ever. I do installs for a local dealership. Someone comes in and wants a particular car with a cd player, or some other option. They call me. l Make sure you use proper wiring harnesses. And don't cut any factory wiring and you will be safe as far as the warranty goes.

Thanks for the replies, this is helping me out, and PLEASE keep them coming

I ordered a wiring harness from sounddomain that is compatable, now if I get a new alt is that risking voiding the warranty too?

and I the only things I dont have are the sub amp, and sub so do you think that ed will have any ks or as left, that way I might be able to run them without killing my current alternator?
