03 Honda Civic Coupe, new deck, what kind of speakers should i get???

    So my girl got me a new deck, nothing fancy, JVC KD-G320, it's 18W X 4 (50W X4 MAX)

I figured I should upgrade my speakers since the ones I have now are stock and they're blown anyway, but being that I don't know what any of that info above means I don't know what kind of speakers to get.

I looked up the sizes and in my car I can use 6.5 in front and 6.5, 6X9 or 5.25 in the rear, I also did a little research and found out that for the best sound I should just get 6.5's all around, but let me know if I'm wrong about that.

My real question is how many watts should I look for in the speakers???

I don't want to get something too powerful and it doesn't sound right, but I also don't want to get something that sounds like what I have now.

Oh, and my options are limited to sears.com because that is the credit card that has money on it right now lol, but they do have some Panasonics and I've heard that is a good brand.

Keep your current stock speakers. After market speakers will sound like crap without being amped.

Not necessarily. Pioneer REVs and PG RSds can sound very nice off headunit power. As long as you install them properly.

$150 for all four. Spend about $50 on some deadening, and it should actually sound pretty nice.

I would not buy car audio from Panasonic. Maybe a deck a couple years ago, but there are great decks from companies much better known for car audio.

If you can't afford new speakers without putting them on your sears card, you should just go without for a while. Especially since it sounds like you have other cards that are already maxed out.

Just buy some walmart factory replacements since yours are blown. Don't waste any more money until you can buy decent equipment and install it correctly.

I'd go with the more expensive ones. Although, you can get the Revs for half the price if you just save up and don't buy from sears

First of all, wattage has nothing to do with the speaker really. An amplifier provides the watts, the speaker rating is how much it can take with out blowing up. And never read the "max" watts, always look for "RMS" (root mean square).

Don't buy speakers from Sears, just buy some clothes or something with that card, and spend money else where.

The more expensive Pioneers he posted up were actually pretty nice. For the price though, I'd rather have two sets of REVs.

No problem man. Just read around here and learn until you have the money to spend. It becomes an addiction fast, so make sure you budget for at least one or two upgrades a year.
