    more power

Hey, I have a usx-2100 bridged @ 300 mono that is working fine for my 12" kappa perfect. What I would like to know is would the usx-2150 bridged @ 450 be too much power for the kappa. I would like to run the 2100 for a set of 6.5 components. The sub is in a 1cubic foot sealed box. I don't want to damage the sub by putting to much power to it I would just like it to hit a little harder. The sub is rated @ 350 rms but I heard they were power hungry. any advice will be apreaciated. Cosmic Challie

Charlie, I believe they have been more than helpful by telling the truth about the infinity subs. There are quite a few who has tried those subs, and are simply telling you what they have been through.

I think infinity subs are awesome (way better than mine), but every equipment/mftr is different... they hae their highs and lows. In the case of infinity, they do not like to be over-powered, whilst some subs take double, triple of their rated power.

They answered your question. DO not overpower it, else you risk the subs blowing.

    jk

those subs have great sq but dont overpower them or use the gain setting as the volume control and they will do well

I experienced the crap glue first-hand when my Perfect 10 came undone.

But I did hear that Infinity supposedly knew it was an issue and fixed it.

They sure sound sweet, but are not very durable well over rated power. IMHO, you could probably do fine with 450 watts on it - just don't push the crap out of it. Keep your gains in check, and you'll likely get more bump out of the Perfect.

Oh - might want to consider a slightly larger box, too - if the 1 cube box is 1 cube BEFORE the displacement of the magnet, it's only like .8 or .7 cubes now - pretty big magnet on the Perfects. You might want to try a 1.3-1.6 cube box before spending money on a new amp - see if it gets the sub moving a little better.
