    Good MP3 players.

I am not that pleased with my Pioneer 7400MP.

My price range is anything up to around $800.

    Priorities are...

    #1 Sound Quality

#2 Ease of Use. I want to be able to access all function quilckly.

#3 Features. I want bass, treble, fade balance, sub level, cut off frequences, and equilzer adjustments.

I don't care how it looks. Actually I would prefer a nice clean look. I have been doing some research but any input would be welcome. So would links!

sounds like everything your looking for is in your p7400mp. maybe try being more specific. obviously thats not everything you are going for...because then the p7400mp would be fine for you. what makes you not like it and want something different with the same options??

    Things I don't like about the 7400MP....

-Takes 4-5 seconds for a MP3 to load.

-Can't search for a song while listening to one. File name and folder can't be displayed at once. Makes finding a song a chore.

-Buttons are small and the D-Pad like search control is not very ergonomic.

    -2V preouts.

-In order to scroll through the audio adjustments you have to constantly press the "Audio" button. Takes too long IMO.

-And the whole display is too much. Intstead of using it right, to display necessary information, most of it goes to waste.

great sq, mp3, and looks pretty basic...check out an eclipse 3413. IT retails for $249. It doesn't have a fancy eq, but you may decide that the eclipse sounds pretty darn good without one. I think it is worth a look. You can see specs/pic at

I have looked at the Alpines and I wasn't very impressed.

I heard Nakamichi and Denon were great but I don't think either makes a MP3 player.

The new Nak cd500 plays mp3s. I don't know if it is released yet though(should be out soon I would suspect).

carmedia1 lists it as coming soon(but the price is $439 I believe which is lower than onlinecarstereo's price).

I dont know how their Mp3 functions are but Eclipses are AMAZING. I helped a friend install a 3 year old eclipse and it sounds phenomenally better than my Alpine.

If I would have been smart, I would have bought one.

I like that Nakamichi. Looks nice.

I'm guessing that not many stores carry them. I have been to Circuit City, Good Guys, Magnolia Hi-Fi and have not seen anything but the usual Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine.

I would really like to test it out...

and next time you will get an eclipse. They make excellent decks. I was going crazy waiting for the new eclipse cd8053 to come out so I had the shop put in a clarion 835mp. I will run that for awhile and then probably go to the eclipse when it comes out. This clarion is a nice deck though.

im very satisified with my alpine 7998, the EQ is really great, SQ kicks ***, and i like the fact that it hides itself when u shut off the car. it retails for like 700, but u can find it for like 450- 500
