Need help with an amp/speaker combo(not subs).

First, let me point out that I am an Orion nut. My system is going to be completely Alpine(HU, EQ, Changer) and Orion(Speakers, Subs, Amps).

My question is this:

I have 2 sets of Orion HCCA 6S seperates. They are going to go in the doors of my 4-door Subaru. The speakers are 2 Ohm speakers and can handle up to 150 watts RMS.

Should I use:

1) Orion XTR 800.4 running 4 channels at 200 watts per channel(2ohm).

or

2) Orion XTR 500.4 running 4 channels at 125 watts per channel(2ohm).


Also, would anyone recommend putting the rear speakers in the rear deck instead of the doors? Or maybe dropping another set of something in the rear deck on top of the 2 sets already?

My goal is more SQ than SPL, but I will eventaully drop 2 HCCA 12s in the trunk powered by undecided amp(s).


Any input would be appreciated.

Well it really depends on how much power you plan on running to your subs. As for the rear The doors will work. But I wouldn't run the tweeters in the rear. It tends to draw the soundstage back away from the dash area where it should be.

Any input on the amps? Would running a 200 watt amp at a lower gain level be more reliable than running a 125 watt amp at a higher gain?

I would run the higher wattage amp for headroom if nothing else. It will allow you balance things out better. Especially if you plan on throwing two hcca's in the trunk
