    Blinking of lights

Well with my Visonik loaded to 1 ohm ... I get mad blinking ... (no caps) ,

running the visonik v900xd and a clarion apx200.2 for vocals

my alternator is a dual coil 80-90 amp

The question is... after time leaving it like this, will my alternator degrade and soon die?

I don't really have half a grand to spend on a new alternator :S... would a capacitor help? Seems that the cap will add an extra load for the alternator?

ask anyone here caps are a waste

if u want to save a little load on ur alternator buy another battery(optima yellow top, bout 130 bucks)

this will slow the eventual destruction of your alt.

dont be so confident in including everyone in that statement.....I agree with most that caps are worthless in the way they are used.....however, it is ignorant to say that capacitors are all together useless......to answers the guys question, yes a cap does add a load to the alternator and that is why they are misused......and your second question, just like anything else, the hard to run something the soon it breaks, if you ran your car at 8000 rpms all day, theres no way the block would make it as long as a normal 2-3000 rmp. You can always wait untill that alternator goes, but thats got some risk......I dont think a new alternator will run you 500.....prob get a 150 amp one for around 300 i think, that is if you change it out yourself (which isn't hard). After that you can start adding batteries and caps to enhance you already functional electrical system.

I'm back to stock in my new car.....

You can get a new 200A alt for less than $300 most likely. What kind of car is it?

your comparing apples to oranges, thats the very misconeption that has caps being misused so much today. Caps are storage that can instantly release power.....NO battery or alternator can do that....they just call have they purposes, and they are not the same purposes....

Its a 89 ford probe ... Most new day cars they make the alternator right on the top and infront of you ... so its nice and easy to get access to it...

The probe is underneath (sorta) and right beside the wheel well area...

There isn't really a way to test the degrade in the alternator?
