    ford's trucks...

    particularly fords 1997 generation, i was wondering if it would be worth it to get a 97 4x4 xlt reg cab with 100kmiles is worth between 6-7grand...anre fords trucks known to hit 150k+miles??? ive heard that toyota's trucks last the longest...but i just cant stand em...lol

    Pretty much any truck will last to 150+k if you take care of them. Although most every truck will need new parts now and then. Before we rebuilt my s-10 it had 276k, so anything can last, but, of course, it needed new parts now and then to keep it running.

    ok thanks alot for the advice...i have a lot of people telling me not to spend 6-7g on something that has more than 100 thou miles on it...but no one who says this seems to know much about cars...

    Yeah, just make sure you go through it well, make sure there are no leaks or breaks anywhere, ask if he had to replace any parts and why, maybe get some receipts off of him, maybe some receipts from mechanics/tune-ups/etc.

    hey man, i got a 95 ford f-150 is a inline 6 and i have 194,000 miles and it still runs like new and i have never had to over hall or r4build my moter the only thing i have done is a biger alt for my amps

    There's one engine that sux though - the 2.9. They don't last. My brother's siezed on him at 110K miles.

    I love mine, 97' Lariat Supercab Flareside w/all the options, got it for 10,700 w/74K miles. I'm at 95K miles now, w/out a problem, replaced the battery (after using the original for 6 yrs)...and that's about it. I'd reccomended the 4.6L v-8 if you can, better gas mileage and much more reliable than the 5.4L and still gets the truck going **** fast.
