I suggest no one go to the massive audio web site for a while

Reason being, their web site has been compromised by a maliscious entity. If you have a good enough anti-virus software, it will detect that the site is trying to execute a virus called psyme.

I tried emailing the web site but there address to contact doe'nt work. Talk about a great compagny.

    So avoid it for now.

some sites will trigger virus software into thinking that there is a virus because some of the new flash files appear to be running extra scripts. Massive audio just re-did their site with mostly flash, so thats why you got your goofy virus warning.

^ Wrong, I got a specific virus name... actually it is a trojan. If it didn't recognise it as a specific trojan, it would have said heuristics detections.

The site still seems the same, someone just added code so it tries and executes a script that loads a trojan.

AVG picked up no viruses on the website. I suggest you scour your own machine. You had a dormant virus most likely that was triggered by the flash or something from their site. Coincidence perhaps. I any event MY avg is up to date and sees nothing wrong with the site.

Re: I suggest no one go to the massive audio web site for a while

Shake and bake? hehehe funny stuff.

Well no offense but AVG is a cheep free anti virus that's better to have then nothing but far from great.

As for the poster above me, it simply doesn't make any sense.

Let me add that the threat name has also recently been updated by mcafee so that their virus definition files include new detections for this threat..

Let me clear a few things up, a compromised site does not mean it will look different or not work. In a lot of cases it will look the very same but a part that you can't see has been modified. In this case that part is a VB script has been added into the web pages code that tries and executes a script.

This script will work and download a file to your machine if you are running an unpached IE. If you keep IE patched then you should be fine.

For those who think they are experts... I happen to be running virusscan enterprise (This means enterprise class, not a home version) and it has a feature called scriptscan, meaning it can block maliscious scripts from running from websites. As mentioned before, since it identifies it by a name and not a heuristics detection, it is infact said VBS/psyme trojan.

For those who don't know what heuristics means, it means looking for a behaviour from a yet unknown malware.

You can always, after browsing the site, try looking in %Temp% and looking for a file called 102084.exe to see if you did get infected. Of course the file name could be anything. And if your IE is patched then you are likely safe. However, the site has been compromised.

    lol, ok "armchair IT guy"

your the kind of person that sends out those chain virus alerts too.

mcaffee is bloated and paranoid so it triggers off of false security risks all the time. And yes we know what enterprise software is, we just dont care. ... not all of us on this site are a bunch of dumb bassheads, many on here are IT professionals who see this sort of stuff daily. Maybe you'll get the hint
