I use to have rear fill. No need for it now...

I installed my new (used) focals yesterday. Wow! what a difference. It's like night and day fron using coaxs. I have always used rear fill, especially since I drive a suv, I felt that rear fill was needed. But since installing these comps and tuning them up to my likings, the rears got disconnected.

Nice crisp and clear sound. Sure makes my rock & roll and heavy metal sound so much better.

Now I understand why some say rears are useless.

sounds like making the switch from coax to component made the difference

not so much ditching the rear fill

    congrats though

Have you tried it with the rears faded mostly to the front, just to "help" the front stage instead of taking away from them?

Rear fill can sound very good if dialed in correctly, but it's not for everyone...

I tried fading them in with the fronts, but to be honest they sound like ***. Maybe it's the difference in speakers, I don't know. But it just does'nt sound right.

I maybe see another set of comps coming in the future.

If the coax's don't have roughly the same sound as your front stage it'll sound like crap. Maybe some Focal coax's would match up better if you decide you want more output...
