Do I want a motorized head unit?

I am looking at the Premier DEH-P840MP. I've never had a HU with a motorized faceplate before. Can I expect years of trouble free service or should I opt for a non motorized HU? www.thezeb.com honors the company's two year warranty.

Years of trouble free service depends on how you treat it during those years. If you are "hard" on it, then it probably won't last that long. Ideally those power actuated systems last quite a long time, people just don't realize the human element involved. Weather conditions can affect lifespan as well. If it really cold out and you continually open and close the face, that can be hard on the motors and shorten the lifespan, allbeit just slightly. If you're really that worried about it get a HU with a simple fold down face and save yourself the stress, or get the motorized one and be gentle with it. Keep the joints clean where the moving parts are and use it sparingly in cold weather. Good luck!

Of all the ***** troubleshooting that makes its way to my email box...I have yet to hear anyone complain of a blow HU motor.

I've had my JVC running for over 2 years and not a bit of problem
