hooking up amp to stock hu

I am about to hook up an amp for my friend to his stock hu but i dont know what to connect the remote lead turn on to

It is for a 1996 volvo 850 gt. Where would this wire be found. Is it on the rear of the head unit or could i connect it to the wire going to the actual antenna because i dont know how to remove the hu since i don't have the haynes manual for this car.

well i know its in the back of the HU usually, i guess you could hook it up elsewhere if u find it. I beleive its generally yellow?

Fire up netscape (IE doesn't work with installdr.com) and look at the three pdf files for installing yourself volvo type cars. See what's appicable to your installation. Does your volvo have one of those mini roof mount antennas? When you do get back there, what's the connector look like? This really is a thing to find out about your specific car... an internet forum or search for wiring harness for your type of car would help a bunch.

If it's just the turn on lead, you can connect it to any switched power source (like in the fusebox) and the amp will be on whenever the car's running.... which is better than always on and better than hooking a switch up and wiring into the battery and remembering to turn it off.
