    capacitor question

the digital screen on my cap reads like 2.5 and that is really low since it is usually around 15 or 16. The thing is I lost the charger, is there any other way to charge it?

you can simply use a resistor, thats what most come with to charge 'em. Or even a test light, when the light gets weak, meter the cap. If it's up around 10V then hook it up.

But, if your reading is that low while already hooked up to your cars elec. system you've got problems.

Your battery is dead and the car won't start...

If the cap is wired correctly, it should ALWAYS be the same voltage as the battery. So either the display isn't working or your wiring is hosed up.

Yes electric potential remains constant along the whole wire from the battery to the ground. If the cap isnt around 12v then either the cap is bad the wiring is bad or your battery is dead.

read from this forum a long time ago...

unplug your amps, and take out the fuses that lead to your cap, and replace the fuse with a 12v light bulb or LED... wait for the light to completely go off, and then you're set... that's what i heard before...
