    Help on SQ

ok, ive never been much into Sq, but im doing a friends system in Sq.. as of right now, he has 2 amps.. alpine v12 1507 and alpine v12 4 channel amp.. not sure which..subs of choice will be alpine type Rs.. what size should he get? 2-10 , 2- 12, or 2-15s? and box size? and how about componets? righ now he has some polk audio from his old system, he either wants to keep them or go w/ Kappas.. he really rather have the Kappas. Hu will be Alpine, but hes lookin at a few diff 1s..any better than the others under 500? this will all be going into a 99 Neon.

    Dual 10's will work fine.

Is this not a reasonable place to park?

2 10's definitly will work...you might want to try a ported box instead of sealed, ported box i think give better SQ, which you are looking for. My friend has a set of Kappa's, they sound really nice. I recommend them. Alpine HU are great, most you find under $500, just pick one that will suit his needs. Some have mp3 players, some don't. Depends on what he is looking for. Plus it takes ALOT to **** up the alpine HU and make it skip. You can go like 80 over some RR tracks and it won't skip! I personally have the cda7893, payed 350 for it and absoulty love it. has a small built in EQ, lets me **** around with the sound stage, i can controll where the bass can be focused, front or back, has a subwoofer adjuster.....Alpine rocks!!!

true i got more fans than the average man, but not enough loot to last me till the end of the week I live by the beat like you live check to check, if you don't move your feet then i don't eat so we like neck to neck, we done come a long way like dem slimn' cigarettes...from virginia....we ani't gonna stop, we just gonna continuna.....

now everyday i look up at the ceilin, watchn ceilin fans go 'round tryn to catch that feeln of instrumental...

    Nope. Sealed gives better SQ.

    Leave him alone guys :p
We all start somewhere...and ported boxes can sound just as good as sealed in certain applications, so don't readily dismiss them just yet.

honest to god truth, 1 15 inch type r in a sealed box (1.5-2.0) cubes......with around 1000 watts.....that was mine and i managed to bag a first place....those 15's are tight in small sealed boxes....and can hit the low lows....Don't say big subs aren't for sq, LES T YOUNG uses two 18inch image dynamics....(custom made) he is a big dog in iasca....he is in autosound and security too....
