    Can Mb Quarts 216 (6.5 in) Work With Alpine 9852 HU??

    I know, the Alpine 9852 HU is not that powerful, but can i power a set of Mb Quarts 216 (6.5 in) temporarily until I buy a decent amp?? I just want to get a decent feel for what the MB Quarts sound like in my car.

    Yea, but they're not going to live up to their potential, at all. I ran a set of older MB Quart RCE216's off my headunit (an alpine 9811) for a year before finally getting an amp to power them...

    this is a pretty common HU...do you know if i can get an amp with it??? I thought i saw something about "no pre-amp outlet"

    Yea, you can get an amp for it although you only have 1 set of pre-outs...

    for just one amp is that a bad thing. I just want a good quality amp that will power 2 front Mb Quart 216 speakers. This HU can support that kind of amp w/ no probs right?

    For just one amp, no. When you decide to buy an amp for the components, just buy a good 2-ch amp and run a set of RCAs from that pre-out to the amp. Just make sure you dont have the pre-out set as a sub-out...
