Best Places to buy 2 guage wire from????

next week im gonna get my car all taken care of cause thats when i get my check ............places in denver are hella expencive for wire right now i have around 12 feet fo 4 guage wire that i had from before and its just sitting around i wanna do 4 guage battery ground 4 guage alt power and 2 guage engine ground but here im getting estiments of 300 dollars just to do that mostly for the wire there charging 7-9 doillars a foot I need to find somewere cheaper im thinking i might just get 30 feet of 2 guage wire and have car toys install it they charge 45 dollars a hour im think it would take 3 hours at the max do u guys know were i can get 0-2 guage for hella cheap I only wanna spend like 200 to get my grounds increased ..... and is it worth 200?????? how many amps does it increase out put by typically ................ do u think with this and a redustion pully ill be able to increase output by 2 times i wanna hit 120 at least at idle?........ the stats on my alternator were like 68 at 1000 rpm 120 at 2000 153 at 3000 rpm.......... its a little less rpms but close i couldnt find the specific specs my system takes up around 110 if i droped it to 1 ohm1620 total 40 for the car..... if i could hit 130 amps at idel id be happy do u think this is possible???? I know i could hit at least 110 at idle with the smaller pulley do u think i could get more out with new wires or should i just get a new car?

Check out www.weldingdepot.com .. I got 2 AWG wire (welding wire for arc welders) for 73 cents a foot, 25 foot min purchase though ($25 min as well, the wire comes to ~$21).. it's not the prettiest stuff in the world, but it carries 250 amps at 25 feet.. and since I'll be just under 20', that's closer to 275 amps..

Black, chem/heat/oil resistant cable.. very flexible *shrug* .. That's my main power wire..

how hard is it to install? like upgrading the power and grounds?...... so my problem could be that my wires can only carry 70 amps? its 12 guage and which wire did u get?

Difficulty of upgrading depends on the vehicle.. in my Blazer it's a total *****.. the alt power goes to some distro thing UNDER the battery base, burried behind some front motor parts, behind the radiator.. I have NO idea how I'd get in there to upgrade.. your car might be totally different...

And, yes... if your wires are too small, you can't get enough current to your amps to run properly.. though, your fuses should be the proper size for the WIRE.. or you can start a fire if you over-work the wires.. If you aren't blowing fuses then you probably aren't even sucking all 70 (ish) amperes on your 12 gauge.. *shrug*

But, upgrading the alt wires lets the alt provide more juice to the system (provided you have upgrade your alt, just upgrading wires does nothing on a stock setup since those wires are matched to the output of the alt)..

That's correct. Except that 12 gage wire should be fused for 20 amps, not 70.

Most of the car battery cables I see at auto parts stores are 4 gage at best. I guess they figgure you can draw 200 amps through it while cranking your engine over cuz' it's only for a few seconds.

Can you buy 2 gage terminals at auto parts stores, or do you gotta pay through the nose for gold plated ones at Tweeter?

Cheap 2 gauge - look at the Power Acoustik 2 gauge kit - 17 feet of power wire + some ground wire and a bunch of other stuff along with it - it's an awesome deal.
