what do you guys think of my budget system?

i really new to building audio systems, but i am trying to build a system for my honda civic hatchback with a budget around 1200. tell me what you guys think and what should i change....

head unit: pioneer deh-7400mp
sub: jl 12w3-d6
front speakers: cdt audio classic cl-61 6.5
rear: get free cl-6x classic slim speakers
amp: hifonics z8000 amp (5 channel amp to power all four speakers and sub, do i need a 5 channel amp? looking also at the new jl 500-1 amp) what do you guys recommend? stil need to get wires and a amp kit. thanks

With a budget under 1200, I'd look at brands besides JL, they are very expensive. You can get better products for less.

Subs - Adire Shiva, Elemental Designs K series
Amps - JBL, US Acoustics, SoundStream

Maybe something like two ED K's and a JBL 1200.1 = would run you around 600, so youd still have 600 to spend on other areas of the system, and it would pound a lot harder than the JL setup youre thinking of getting. What are you looking for in terms of SQ/SPL?

well in my sig.....i have my future system that i want to get there....im looking at ~1200-1300 (thats including wire and cost of fiberglass and such )......w/ that setup.....may have just saved a little xtra w/ a guy that sending me some mid bass speakers...we'll see how it works out

i myself am a fan of adire....so i'd say shiva .....as for the amp...have heard nothing but good things about hifonics....

doesn't he need quite a bit of air space to run a shive though?

as for the system, it sounds great except for the JL subs. there really is better out there for the money. the ed K might be the best choice due to the fact that it can run in a small enclousure. maybe a ed12k on a JBL 600.1 (just for the little extra headroom), that will only be about $350 (after shipping). that leaves all the rest for wiring, components, HU, and front stage amps.

note: if you get a good set of comps for up front (and it looks like you did) you really dont need rear fill. just run the stock speakers off the HU and i think it will be just what you are looking for.

shivas only recomend 1.25 cu ft/ sub......not that much for a 12

oh, nm then. i've always heard 2+cu ft is best since it is still a home a home audio sub

1.25 recomended....but most people go w/ larger.....

i recommended him the system except for the sub. reason why i chose 5 channel amp? because he's going to be getting it installed at a shop and u know how they will charge more for more amps, blah blah blah. so gotta make it as simply as possible!.

dual 4ohm. wire the sub in parallel and you get 2ohm. it'll be seeing 300 watts RMS, just enough to get them going

EDIT-actually..i'm emailing Hifonics to see whether the 300x1 is at 2ohm or 4ohm. i gotta wait for their reply before i can tell you which one you'll need.
