    Will JL e2150 amp run a Type R sub?

    Im not really into car audio as much as I used to be, but, out of curiousity, would a JL Audio e2150 2channel amp be able to run a Alpine type R sub?

    In short....HELL NO!

    Alpine Type R's ar rated 500w RMS but want more like 800w-1000w RMS....save your money and buy a Hifonics BXI 1606D or BXI 1206D and call it a day.

    Spend about $250-$300 for either shipped.

    My System So Far

    HU = Sony CDX-M630

    Front Stage = Stock 3.5"

    Rear Stage = None

    Subs = 2 Alpine Type R's

    Sub Amp = Power Acoustik A2400DB wired to 1 ohm

    Sub Box = 4ft^ ported at 35Hz
    1991 Dodge Stealth with stock 90amp alt. and no Big 3.
    Gets twice as loud as the olds cutlass cierra!

    I would be a waste of money imo.....500w to one Type R and no less.......sure it will run off the amp but you'll be stting the gains super high and the bass boost and clip the **** out of it just trying to get the sub to sound the way it should......500-800w RMS per Type R......

    Re: Will JL e2150 amp run a Type R sub?

    Yeah, my car's two alpine dual voice Alpine R's had one of the Rs give out after a little over 3 years. Was thinking of switching the one remaining R to my other car, replacing 2 12 kenwoods which are 6 yrs old (and the only amp Id have left would be a e2150 I was using to run my type R components upfront).

    Was thinking of putting in two X's inplace of the two R's....the amps I have are 4 Alpine MRD-M300s
