Who Has dual 4 ohm voice coil speaker wired to 1 ohm???? i really really need help
i got my idmax's and my hifonics hercules amp installed............... The guys at the shop told me that a guy with a jbl 1200 watt amp was beating my 21 id maxes with 1 12'........... well that would be ok but i spent the extra $100 to get 300+ more watts then that amp..... they told me that they wired my subs at 2 ohm.... 1000 rms with that amp 500rms a piece maybe more at 14v i was like why didt u wire it doqwn to one ohm (the reason why i got dual 4 ohm voice coils) they said that the voice coils were acually rated at 3.7 or so ohms so i couldnt wire them down parallel to one ohm becuase it would be less then that and they went on a whole stent on how i needed to get another amp of the smae kind ($350) and how even amps that cost 900 or more dont work good at 1ohm so i got in the car and... it bumps..... but not as much as it should my friend has some wack mx audio alunimum subs hooked up to a 250 mtx amp he maybe hitting 500 watts and his would probably fall just a little short of my system.......(my 6'9s blew too so maybe thats part of it) but still it doesnt sound like 1000 watts they said maybe it was my cd players pre amp out outputs ......... but still .... i was thinking about it re xxx series subs have dual 1.7 ohm voice coils and people run them at 1 ohm parralel wired....... I was thinking about just taking the subs out and rewireint them paralel and going for the 1 ohm load anyway do u think this would destroy my amp?......... i mean its a hi fonics its not just a throw away amp
