    Power/RMS, Loud, and Sound Quality

What does more power exactly do for a sound system? I keep hearing the more powerful the amplifier the louder the speakers will be able to play, as long the speakers can handle it. However, let's say I'm running 50 watts to a pair of speakers that can handle 100 rms. And let's say at 50w the speakers will play loud and clear far beyond what I'll ever have the volume turned up to. Then what differences would I notice if I ran 100w to the speakers? I mean if I want loud I just turn the volume up, right?
