Help me make my system better, Please read... check it out!

ALright, from always listenin to my sysstem, my ears are becoming shot lol. So i need even more louder. At the moment I have 2 RE Audio SX 12"s, each powered by an orion 1200d in a prefab ported box. I kno just switching to anothe ported box tuned correctly witht he right sq ft will help immensly, but I'm wondering what subs I can upgrade to that will make it A LOT more noticebaly louder.

This is what I was thinking, and I'd like your opinions... Don't use money as a factor, cuz either way I'll figure out a way to get the money to get the system sooner or later, I really want something ****ni loud as hell.

Options I HAVE thought of (Please give me more)

    - 4 SX 12"s
    - 2 SX 15"s
    - 4 L7 12"s
    - 2 L7 15"s
    - 4 American Bass XD's or DX's not sure which one was higher rated 12"s
    - 2 American Bass XD's or DX's not sure which one was higher rated 15"s

With the right power, what will be louder? I have a 1997 4 door Blazer, so hopefully being an SUV its gonna pound like hell. Please give me other opinions on what you think I should do. So far I have the best system in my town, but the 2 systems in my county that are beating me so far are 3 W7 13"s in a hatchback, and 4 2003 L7's in a truck.

Arent those like $650 tho? Will 2 1200d's be enough for 2 15"s XXX's, im not sure about the new rms/peak ratings of them.

Should I try and go used and get the pre 2006models or get the new ones?

just add 2 more sx 12's and get 2 orion 2500D's. that way, you save money by only having to buy 2 new subs. im pretty confident the 2500D's would be loud enough

Re: Help me make my system better, Please read... check it out!

    Yea, they are pretty pricey.

After thinking about it, technically, (and if you have the money), if you have 2 15" of the same drivers, or 4 12" size of the same drivers, the 4 12"s will acually (technically) be louder (that is if you have RMS power on each). The 4 12's all together are have more surface area then 2 15's. Look, just an estimate, in inches, not in actual volume sizes:

    4 X 12 = 1 48" sub.
    2 X 15 = 1 30" sub.

Thats more surface area moving, and that is more SPL.

The XXX 12's are $630 each factory direct, but expect to pay more then 700 bucks retail. They are rated at 2000 RMS - 3000 RMS.

On a more practical approach, Try something like the MX's. You could pick 4 12"s up for a realativley cheaper price then the XXX's, and with 4 of them, that would be a tight setup. I believe the MX's are rated at 1600 RMS. I don't remember coil properties right off.

Loud as hell? DD 95's or MT's come to mind. With typical power, less than 2kw per, DD35's can do it or the new XXX, MX.

No offense, but it really doesn't matter what you pick. A month or so after you have it you'll just ruin your hearing further requiring yet another uprgrade. Then you'll notice it's really frustrating trying to hold a conversation in a somewhat noisy room, you'll be mosty deaf by 40. My suggestion, drive a nail into your ear, it's faster and cheaper. Secondary suggestion, 4 SX's.

I agree on this one. I think this should do mid 150's on a certified TL in a wall setup with the right electrical. If that **** isnt loud enough, then you might want to find a new hobby.

Learn math. You can't just add diameters together to figure out equivalent area. The easy way to do it is to get the Sd for each driver. The harder way is to get the actual cone diameter and figure out the area yourself.

    A=pi*r^2.

Your average 12" sub only has about a 10" cone because of the width of the surround (the surround does not contribute apprecably to the surface area of the sub) and a 15" is about 13".

Using the above equation a 12 has about 78 in^2 of surface area and a 15 has about 132 in^ of surface area. 4 12s is 312 in^2 and 2 15's is 264 in^2. The 12s DO have more cone area but according to your math, 3 12s would have more area than 2 15s and if you actually do the math you will see that that isn't the case.
