True or False with Car Audio

    the big catch 22 !

if you want it done right you have to do it yourself and loose mfg warrenty.....
if you want it done wrong but with warrenty you have to pay more and go to your local retail shop

    any thoughts peeps?

You could always find a place that installs cheep then do it over your self that wouldnt void the warranty.

Re: True or False with Car Audio

Well, most people, including installers, don't know *how* to do it right. So it works for them. For the rest of us, if there was some way we could prove our competency as an installer we should be able to keep the warranty.

In my experience, the only shops, that seemed to have a good staff installers/salesmen, are the smaller mom and pop shops. But yea, pretty much.... You're ****ed if ya do and ****ed if ya dont

Re: True or False with Car Audio

I had my Eclipse installed by a dealer to get the warranty. Without insulting his shop I experessed my concern that it be done to my satisfaction. The dealer when out of his way to allow me to ok the work that was being done at every step of the install. They did an excellent job.

Re: True or False with Car Audio

Last install I had done to my truck

Memphis 1000d and a US Acoustics 2150 installed, and a set of comps(not hard, right?)

When I went to take out my Pioneer, MAGICALLY, I plugged in the factory radio(with no amp to the comps) and low and behold, THEY WERE HOOKED UP TO THE RADIO AND THE AMPLIFIER AT THE SAME TIME. How they did this, I still am not sure.

So, naturally(of course) I took my doors apart to see. Two screws holding in my Focal 165v Midranges, wires bass ackwards everywhere, and they didnt even drill anew hole or anythign to run the wire in(from my comps to the equalizer and to the amp) they just shoved it behind the 6.5, it was by far the worst I've seen done to me. They put the RCA's on backwards too.

Educational session for you retards of the forum:Use there when referring to a place, whether concrete or more abstract. No kove, I will not come over there. Use their to indicate possession. Members of this forum have lost their minds. Remember that they're is a contraction of the words they and are. They're all idiots!

Re: True or False with Car Audio

I think if a shop has all MECP certified installers, then you have a good bet that your install will be done right. If they have only one or two, then I would try to search out another shop. Also some of us are more of audiophiles than installers. I only go to shops who only hire MECP certified installers. Just makes the buying and installing process more stress free.

Re: True or False with Car Audio

Some shops/manufacturer's will allow you to install yourself and have you bring it back when you're done. They'll look over it, and if it was competently installed they'll send in the little card dealie to allow you full warranty.

Reasons like this are why it's good to become friends with your local shops
