    I want more bass

Alright so currently I have 2 12" Niche Audio Comp. Series Subs, on a Niche Audio Evo Series NA101E amp..i have my stock head unit, and everything else stock in my 05 honda accord..I just had a new box built and put in hoping the bass would increase, but it didnt make a big difference..im looking for the best ways to get more bass..does that mean get a head unit, new subs, new amp..new everything? Or maybe just take the car to some professionals to get it all tuned.. alright thanks guys..

    pic of new box:

    Re: I want more bass

thats a bit massive for a sealed box

Definitely try a properly built and tuned ported box. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. And you wont need a 9 cubic box either!

Yeah dude **** 9cu FT sealed is huge. If you want more bass just get a nicely tuned ported box. A properly sized sealed box would probably help your cause as well

    Re: I want more bass

theres not much difference between sizes of sealed boxes, IMO. Just low end response tends to be better with large ones.

Just cut up that box. Im sure you'll have plenty of wood left over to build a ported box. Check out niche audio's manual or email them, they should have a ported box design or two for that woofer.

also, what r the stats on that amp?

Dam!! 9.0 cubic feet?! Thats something I could use for my L7s! Try switching to something smaller and port it instead.

    Re: I want more bass

just because a woofer isnt designed for a ported box doesn't mean it cant sound good ported. If you want new subs, thats great. I've never heard anything about niche audio. But no 12" subs I know require a 9 cubic foot box. If I were you I would design a new box for the ones you have, and if your still not satisfied, get new subs and build a new box for those. You'll only lose 50 bucks in the worst case scenario.

And dont tell me your going to make ME go hunting for the stats of your amp?

No harm in trying. check out one of those internet calculators, and get a calculation for a circular port tuned to the frequency of your choice. Then, go get some PVC pipe and cut it to the length you need and stick it in the box. Wont take you more than an hour.

    Re: I want more bass

Dude, that box is way too big for your subs. When you make a sealed box too big, the sound will become wayy too quiet, muddy, and low. You'd probably gain a lot of SPL just by making your box *smaller*.

According to you, your subs together both need around 3 cu ft sealed, you have them in 9 cu ft... thats 3 times the recc. size! I'm not so familiar with those subs, but definately try them in the correctly sized sealed box if they are meant to be sealed.

My car audio addiction will be complete when my system sounds as good as my $20 headphones.

    Re: I want more bass

well the box looks big, but it don't look like no 9cu ft box. any ways, you should find out how big the box actually is to see if that could be a problem or not.

a ported box might increase your spl output.

also since youre using the stock HU, are you using the high input on the amp or are you using a high to low converter?
if you are using a converter, then check to see whats the voltage output on that to the amp is, it may be too low for the amp to match it. " just a thought".

    now to the amp,
how do you have the subs wired to the amp?.
    b/c that amp is rated at 150wrms @ 4 ohms. and 250wrms @ 2 ohms, and 500 to 1 @ 4ohms,
with that sub you can go, series each sub sub coil, then parallel both subs for the final 4ohms to bridge the amp @ 4ohms. or the other way around or just run 2ohms per channel, just make sure youre not running each channel at 8ohms b/c, youll only be sending like 75wrms to each sub.
