What will happen if you go above the RMS???

I got these two Sony XSL1290P5s with 500 RMS each. I got this 2 channel SD22X amp. The RMS for it is 200 on 2 at 4 OHMs. What would happen if i made it go up to 500 on 2 subs at 4 OMHs seeing as its peak power is 1100 Watts would that kill my amp seeing as it says 200 RMS on the box?

Because he is severely confused and needs to learn. I just don't know what to say and where to start. And that is in all seriousness.

Re: What will happen if you go above the RMS???

500 RMS will blow the **** out of those subs.
I believe that RMS is the actual power rating of what a sub can handle. And i think (but dont hold me to it) peak power is how much it can handle in like a single burp.
But trust me, you DO NOT want to put that much power to those. they cant handle it. I had a set of tens and they couldnt handle the power

Re: What will happen if you go above the RMS???

Your amp is 500w rms. As long as you properly set your gain you should have no trouble.. each sub will only get 250. And they are rated at 350 so you should have no problem as long as you can wire them up at a 4 ohm load and you set the gain properly .
