01 Explorer Tiny DD setup to (2) 18 AT Stratos in a 4th

Before I update to the current ish, here�s the past build of the tail end of last year:

Figured it�s time to finally tart a build log on muh truck, even though I�m terrible at keeping photo updates�so let�s see. Started working on the truck back in novemeber with ****** weather, so everything was pretty rushed to get a working system installed before the bad weather hit and I lost working in the garage to the folks cars.

Here�s le picture of muh car (98 Maliboom) and muh suv (01 Explorer)

Where to start�hmm well after running wire through the truck, the first thing I bought was le equipment from Dave aka la crx:

-DD M80
-DD 9012
-DD CS 6.5

Had Dustin Camb design and build meh a beater box until I had time to mess around with cosmetics in the spring

Also around this time (now December) I came across a great deal on a z120, so I bought that and installed it as well (explorer dash is a ***** that is about .75� of trim too large around the radio bezel to fit a DD

Anywho, trimmed it out and got that ish in:

I was also deadening the whole car with this GT MAT sound deading stuff- not the greatest, but ballin on a budget in a daily beater and 100+ sq ft for 100 bucks will sway a man.

Bought some other small ish for it too like a Kicker EQ for the mids that I have yet to install as well as the mids themselves and an HC 2400 from John

So on the brink of winter I got the sub amp and DD installed then winter hit and I was out messing around in the snow in it (yay 4wd) and had no real time to work on the truck, so this is how it�s looked for the past 5ish months.

Well.. another build lol, first off let me say this is a SUPER budget build but still running quality shit, less than $1000 was spent

this one will consist of

All knu wiring (30)
knu and jl rcas (20)
Kenwood flip out 250
B2 Qouta "1200" rms, more like 1800 from @Jayzbent ; (190)
XFL 12 (150)
Sundown SAX 125.2 (150)
DD Vo 8" mids (100) in custom doors, my specialty
Rockford Fosgate T1 tweets (20) in the A pillars
C&D 300, 78 ah batt in back (60)

$980 total was spent

starting out, ripping the 4 gauge out and replacing it with 1/0 Knu

wiring teh shit up

gonna flush mount this rca gain control somewhere

RCAs and wire and remote ran

RCAs, JL for sub amp and RF for teh mids and highs

Amps, B2 Qouta, & a SAX 125.2

@quakeroatmeal ; hit me up about some 6.5 mounting rings so he could do some comps in his daily beater, so he came by this weekend and we knocked em out..

hes currently running

HU: Nice ass OS Eclipse 5v pre out deck
speakers: Cadence comp set, sounds DAMN good for the small amount of money he spent
all KNU wiring
2 12" HDC3s on an APSM1300

im trying to help and convince him to sell them and pixk up a ZV3 15 and run it on about 2k so he can play some low lows. anyways, heres the comp install for now

cheap comp set but **** they sounded nice

epoxied from the rear and installed

MDF mounting rings for the mids

other side..

didnt get any pics of the trunk but next time we get together I will, im gettin him back into the groove and catching him up on all the brands and what not.. should be a fun build none the less..

soon we will be doing the big 3, some battery terminals, and getting some nice dry cell batts in there so we can run some power

Hello!

For those of you who don't know me my name is Mark and I am the man behind "Car Audio Fabrication" on YouTube. I have posted build threads before (like this one: http://www.caraudio.com/forums/car-a...ml#post8197192 ) and if you have ever seen one you know that I love to mix in "How To" Videos throughout the build that describe the process and show each step. This build will be no different! well, it will a little bit because I am going to try to mix in a lot more pictures for your viewing pleasure!

I love to help other car audio enthusiasts young and old, newb and veteran, so if you see something you have a question about ASK! :)

The Install:

Custom Fiberglass Door Pods with Vinyl Wrapped Inserts to accent interior and match sub enclosure
Custom Fiberglass Subwoofer Enclosure (Specs to Follow)

The Goal:

Quality sound that integrates well with the vehicle and requires little to know permanent vehicle modification. (No cutting of panels allowed!)

My Goal:

Teach the readers of this thread as much about the fabrication of the pods and sub enclosure, as well as the install as I can.

Let's begin!

We started with collecting some
of the gear, the ownder of the vehicle wanted to re-use his Alpine Component
Speakers and JL Subwoofer, I talked him into purchasing a MRP-F300 which is the
exact same foot print as the MRP-M500 and will allow for a really clean
install.

12" Alpine Type R's cut out

I recently purchased two 12" Alpine Type R's (SWR-1222D) subs and an 1100 watt RMS amp (Alpine MRX-M110). I have them wired for a 2 ohm load i believe. I can only turn my amp gain to about 1/8 turn up and my subs will cut out at 18 volume. I know these subs can handle more than that and I don't know what to do. Maybe my wiring is for a 4 ohm load? Help

Scott brought in his GTR after not being impressed with the big shop in town, to quote him "Their demo GTR sounded like crap". He also went so far as to say he wanted a proper stage to go along with great clarity. Now I never had a client ask for a sound stage before so I told he brought the car to the right place.

Scott had a JL Audio XD400/4, XD600/1 and 12w6v2 left over from previous install so he wanted to use the equipment. Since the GTR radio could not be removed a new Mosconi 4to6 was adding for OEM integration and DSP control. For the front stage a set of Focal Performance P165 V15 was added to the mix. Since he had the XD400/4 the decision was made to run the P165 v15's in an active set up controlled via the 4to6.

Not being just an audio shop I reupholstered his headliner in black Alcantara and also dying the grey plastic parts black. This is truly an option the car should have come with.

With that done I move into the audio portion. The front door panels received a treat of Focal BAM sound deadening.

The inside skin of the doors was covered in Hush Mat Ultra sound deadening in black.

Running wires into the doors was a straight forward process thanks to Nissan leaving an opening area in the molex plug. Some careful drilling and the wires were able to pass right into the doors.

Not too many pics for today I was just thinking out how I was gonna do them mainly.

2005 Buick Rainier Build Log

Well, the time has finally come. I'm starting my build on my front stage, as well as my sub stage. Going for a mostly factory location SQ oriented tight budget setup, that is still able to get a little bit loud. Updates may take some time since I have to wait for things to come in, as well as save up for a few too.

The Car
It's a 2005 Buick Rainier CXL with a 4.2i6 Vortec and AWD. During this process, I'll be lowering it 2-3 inches with Belltech drop struts and springs, DJM upper a-arms, Sphoon Panhard bar, and DJM sway bars.
Current Modifications:
Plasti-Dipped trim and wheels.
6000k HID's in lows and fogs.
Roof rack delete.
Leveled rear suspension.

To start with, I'll be making, very soon, a vinyl-wrapped enclosure with stained hardwood baffle for 2 E8v3's tuned to 35Hz.

Plans are as follows:
Head Unit:
JVC KD730BT. When I have the money, I'd like to go to a Pionner 80PRS, but this is what I have and it's god for now.
Sub Stage:
Currently, I have 1 Alpine Type-S 12" in a sealed box, but that's getting replaced with 2 E8v3's ported at 35Hz and wired to 1 ohm.
Hifonics BXi 610 - Like the head unit, I plan to replace this down the line. I've had this amp for a while.
Front Stage:
Currently, I've got stock Bose 3.5" speakers in dash and Bose inverted mid-sub bass woofers in the doors, but the following will be replacing that.
MB Quart DKE 3.5" speakers in factory dash location
Alpine Type-R tweeters in A-Pillars
Sundown NeoPro 6.5's in the doors
Type-R tweeters and NeoPro's will be run off a Sundown SAX 100.4D actively, and MB Quart DKE 3.5's will be run off the front channels of a Kicker KX 600.4
Rear Fill:
Alpine Type-R 5-1/4" midbass woofer running off the rear channel of the Kicker KX 600.4

2 DD 2515's Enclosure

Finally adding to my daily driver. I finally got the time to do a total install.

What I've ordered so far:
15" Sundown SA-15 D2
Skar LP-1000.1D
KCA 1/0 Amp Wiring.

Buying locally today:
Headunit
Faceplate Adapter/Wiring Harness

Need to order:
Speaker Amp (need suggestions)
Front/Rear Speakers (need suggestions)
Deadener

Sub/Amp are supposed to arrive on the 6th. I do need to figure out what speakers to put in the front doors and what amp to power them. Budget for both would be about $300. Also what would be the best deadener to get? Budget about $100 to begin with. Need to order those today or tomorrow.

I'll take pics once everything starts showing up.

Alternator: Stock (160 Amp)
Batteries: Stock and a Deka Intimidator in the back
Enclosure: Custom

Got contacted to finish up a monster, freakin absolute monster asss van for a local here.

I don't know a whole lot about the van other than what I do need to know, as I get more info ill be posting it..

Later 80s early 90s, it's on a air set up
Walled at the B-Pillar, 4th order tuned at 45 IIRC
12 15" Tantric HDD's
6 B2 M1S's
2 B2 Quattros on teh mids and highs
4 sets of 8" Crossfire MPX mids
18 XS Power Xp3000s
Not sure what were gonna do for alts yet, he's already got a 330 amp DR44 (late model Chevy monster alt) so I think that's the direction we will take

Now, most of this build has already been completed, a very select few, maybe 2 or 3 of you know who was working on this, some shit came up and he could not finish it and so I am now..

What I will be doing

Building the faceplate/beauty panel/port for the box
Re carpeting the floor
Redoing some wiring
Building a nice center console to house all the switches (Air gauges, amp turn ons, etc.)
Custom door panels with 4 8" Crossfire MPXs per door. Gonna be hella loud.
Doing something with the head liner lol
Finishing off the amp rack and wire up the amps in back
Make beauty panels for the amp rack in back.

Nothing too crazy, but it needs this shit to be finished none the less..

This is my first and probably last huuuuuumoungus build, I hope it's not my last, but ill never run anything this big and I doubt anyone else would have me build their car/truck/van and bedding something this crazy/money involved.. Anyways, more updates coming in the morning,
