I have 2 10" subs (Boston Acoustic G110PD) hooked up to an Alpine MRP500 amp and ran to a Pioneer DEH01300MP headunit.

My problem is that the bass is sloppy and sometimes hardly hits. It seems I either get crazy amounts of distortion or no bass at all, no matter what the amp is set at. I only seem to get bass when I set the headunit to the loud mode but I don't like doing this because it makes my door/rear speakers sound very poor. I have a few theories but wanted some advice before I take it into the local car audio shop.

My first theory is that my headunit is the problem- when it was installed we bypassed the new headunit amp and just tapped into the stock amp (2000 mustang-bad stereo) because we didn't get the right harness in the mail. I considered taking it into the shop to get it all hooked up correctly to see if maybe the stock amp head unit amp is the culprit. (New headunit or just getting everything rewired)

My next theory is that maybe I have a terrible set up. But I feel even a poor set up would have much better bass than what I'm getting. The subs are 400 rms at 2 ohms and the amp is 500 rms at 2 ohms so it couldn't be a lack of power. Is there a chance my amp just isn't going to 2 ohms and is sending 4 ohms instead (300 watts)?

I'd appreciate any help I can get!

Hey guys, new here. Just wanted some help quick. I have a 00 s10 regular cab so not much space to work with. I had a kicker comp 10" for a while but got rid of it and now i need to replace it. I have a kicker 500.1 amp that im going to use. Im thinking i want to go with a sundown sd-2 unless anyone has different reccomendations. I'm not sure if i want to go with a 10 or 12 either. Also im wondering about the ohms. I'll only be running one sub and don't plan on adding another. Could i go with a 2 ohm with my amp then and be fine? The sd-2 10 and 12's are rated at 500w rms so they would be getting a full 500w in 2 ohms?

Its been quite a while since I've last looked into car audio at all. I just picked up a 2011 Silverado and would love to throw a sub in there somehow. Obviously the old fosgate 12" P2 that I had in my car won't fit so I'm not really sure where to start. I don't really want to spend much more than I can get for my old sub.

Good shallow subs seem to be a little out of my price range and I'm weary of 8" subs, I don't know why. I don't really know where to start.

I'm debating on trying to make my own box. It doesn't look too difficult.

I don't need anything too crazy. To put things in perspective I was content with the single 12 in my car.

Any advice would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

I have this post off Amazon
First off, been in the car audio world for a number of years now. OWNED Mainstream company's equipment and underground equipment. I decided to try this after hearing a few good reviews from others and I'm very glad I did. $30 was a juggle I was willing to take and so I did, got the sub and built a 0.75 ft^3 box tuned to 35hz with 10"^2 of port and geeeeesh this little woofer swears it's a 12 or 15" lol. Right out the box on ~100w rms i had it on everything from slowes/chopped music up to pop, notes in the high 20hz's were pushed by this little woofer, even tho the fs is 42hz, it gets down! Moves quite a bit and the sound is smooth, i plan to add another and attempt a small sq install, sounds crazy from a $30 "LANZAR" woofer but from my experiences from other high priced equipment I've had, I'm confident in this woofer. Best thing Lanzar offers outside of the OPTI line they offer. If you're tempted, GET IT!!!

Can someone help me on building this box?Does this guys box sound like it would do what he says?

That being said, I'm stuck between a Fi SSD12, a level 3 DC or a HDC3 12 audioque. Also I'd like to wire them down to 1 ohm (except the DC, I know that can't happen with one sub) for shits n giggles, so 2 ohm dvc for any suggestions. Oh also what about an alpine type r?

Ps: Can a stock electrical system handle 1000w rms? Average battery, stock alt. I'm probably going to run 4 gauge for the amp.
