what should i do with my trunk?

    ok i'm stumped.

    THE GOAL:
put two avalanche 15's into my large trunk by any means necessary.

    STIPULATIONS:
box must have at least 6 cubes net and about 100sqin of port for both subs.

    POSSIBILITIES:
I've considered an MDF build-in. This doesn't seem too practical because if I do vertical slot ports, there's no way for me to screw the bottom piece of the inner port wall into the base of the box. Also this might not give enough airflow or enough of an opening, and would diminish bass response. Firing forward would take too much work to completely seal the baffle of the box from the rest of the trunk. I also **** at making MDF boxes, so doing it inside of a trunk would be horrible.

I've also considered an MDF/Fiberglass hybrid. This is impractical because I have no way of finishing the fiberglass portion after it is built into my trunk. I can DEFINITELY not sand the fiberglass inside of the car because that will turn out HORRIBLY no matter what I do.

SOMEONE give me a good idea that i haven't thought of!

those are about the only options you got.

i was thinking, if you did a forward firing box

effectivly sealing the trunk off - and you made a wooden baffle and a box 'with no back' and use the entire trunk as your enclosure... you could get masking tape and mask off the ENTIRE AREA around the baffle (including the decklid - and cover it with expandible foam... but- instead of removing it and whatever, just sand it smooth, and leave it.

if you wanna remove it- its as simple as cracking it off and removing the tape.

least thats how it worked in my mind.

sealing of isn't that hard. takes time but with as much fiberglass work you have done you should be use to taking time. also if you do a build in you would essentialy block most of the waves from going back by the box itself anyway. just whip out the expanding foam and seal up all the lil holes in the rear deck and rear firewall. you might have to make the hole in the rear firewall bigger but trust me it can be done with tin snips, a hammer, thick gloves, a screwdriver and time.
