ASAP :Opinion On Which way to face my sub.

I am currently redoing my sub box in my car. I got tired of it and wanted something new. I am making about 6 ft^3 box for a 97 Monte Carlo. the part where i need an opinion on is which way should i put the subs in the trunk. I got the fold down back seats in my car.

Option #1 - Face the subs towards the rear. So that subs sit about 8 inches away from the trunk lid. They would be sitting perpendicular to the trunk floor. Basically facing the rear of the car.

Option #2. Face them towards the front of the car. So when you fold down the seats they are right there. Firing into the cabin of the car.

Option #3 - face them up so that they will be parallel with the trunk foll. the will be firing towards the top of the car about 6 inches away from the trunk lid.

I need to make a decision as soon as possible guys so please help me make it. Remember i am going got all out SPL so which ever one is going to give me best output.

    Thanks.

towards the cab you'll feel them a lot more so it's really up to you. I would just have them face back towards the back of the car.

So you feel them more. Then why face them towards the rear.

Which way is going to yield more SPL.

Re: ASAP :Opinion On Which way to face my sub.

oh and forgot to add my input.....Basically this has been a topic discussed for no telling how long. I was in your boat with my current install that im working on. In my opinion, from what guys have talked to me about and my readings, its easier just to fire toward the rear. But you can have good results firing into the cabin. Will take more effort, such as taking your time and completely sealing everything off. But i hear if you correctly do that, then you will be in good shape.

Alot of people i hear that say fire rearward and they have tried both ways, usually (not saying all) but they forget to seal everything off. They just flip the box around. Which in that case, rear firing would indeed be the best option.

I havent had hands on experience yet, but im in the process of doing that now. i covered my rear dash with 3-4 layers of peal and seal. 4 layers of masking tape, along with 2 layers of fiberglass. So that should cover my rear deck. and im going to use some expanding foam all around my box. I hope to see good results.

ya, just turned it around...i've heard sealing off completely will be better as well, because less cabin area=greater cabin gain...but when he had his subs out of the box he noticed that both spiders were ripped at the cone so he just wanted to throw them in till they blow up and get some new 12's. he didn't want to seal it if we was just gonna be changing them.
