Re: ported box for an orion H2

0.65 for 1500 watts vented for any sub seems a little small to me. my JL w3s have more than that sealed.

would more cu ft hurt it?, i would only be putting 1200 watts tops to the sub..

if you are putting less power to it, you can go with a slightly larger enclosure to gain some output.

dont worry about it, unless your tuning "SPL" high or driving around
play 10Hz test tones all day...you don't really need it. and moe...those boxes are straight from the orion site aren't they

if you tune low (28 Hz +/-), i'm almost positive not having a sub-sonic filter will be an issue.

Re: ported box for an orion H2

say i went with the :

1500 watt Vented enclosure (cu. ft.) 0.65
    Port tuning frequency (Hz) 30
    Port diameter (inside, in.) 3
    Equivalent square port (in.) 2.65x2.65
    Port length (in.) 24.7

is setting the freq at 27 or 28 harmful at all since it is not reccomended by orion?? what would u guys reccomend 4 the box size

Re: ported box for an orion H2

you are good to 3/4 of an octave below tuning...30x.75=22.5Hz
not that much goes that low...

it wont be harmful to tune that low. it'll give better sq, but decrease the spl. as for the box size, i have no idea. Usually for a 10 in. sub that runs 1500 rms, i'd recommend somewhere around 2-3 ft. ^3, but they recommend such a low volume, a box over 1 ft. ^3 may not be the best thing.

can that be achieved with my trunk only being 31 x 16 x 18 ?
