what do you think of this box my friend designed

My friend who is a tech designed this box. It will be about 5.5-6 cubes and hold 2 12" RE SX. the only thing i found weird was that the dustcap was blowing out the port instead of the magnet. I mostly listen to rap and he sad this **** would pound. let me know what you guys think

looks like a type of bandpass to me... i personally don't like bandpasses they don't have the best response curves IMO. But i haven't taken the time to work with them enought to really know for sure.

Re: what do you think of this box my friend designed

The design looks good but try putting the subs facing out like normal (where the plexi would go) and using the center part as a nomal slot port.....put the plexi on the sides or top or back. The bandpass type box will sound great on some songs and not loud at all on others. A large slot ported enclosure is really what you are looking for if you want loud, balanced and great on rap music.

Yeah, I think I wouldn't go through the trouble of trying to build that. A well built ported enclosure tuned around 28-32hz will make you so happy with most any music.

i don't like how the subs are aimed strait at the back wall, i'd do something different...i'd atleast angle them or something, youd think there would be a lot of cancelation...

It's technically a 4th order bandpass, something that can be made to sound better than a standard ported enclosure Building one is like building a transmission line though...very challenging, not something to be attempted by a novice box builder.

Re: what do you think of this box my friend designed

bandpass is for people who think neons are cool and like showing off their system because they think it makes them cooler...a solid MDF ported enclosure will be your best bet...the different range of sounds is much less in a bandpass box...you cant hit every note and notice the difference...use outdoor carpet if you are concerned about looks...

there are two different types of systems...pretty and loud...there is a median...thats what i used...i could have gone more SPL but it would have made my car look ghetto...im not a hardcore SPLer, i find it gets old...
