    my new box log, with pics

    im building my new ported box, just started at school yesterday no plans or ne thing just free built it, so heres what i have so far

    this is the wood i have its all glued up scrap vanneer core plywood which flexes none, also with mdf, its all free wood so i didnt care, dont care what it looks like either it will get carpeted,


    this is a pic up close how i glued them together each splice has about 4 or 5, 20 style or i think 2.5 inch biscutes glued with enough wood glue
    this is with the first side on,

    basic pic of it all together without the top and port

    ]
    front pic of the port, 2.5 inches wide
    last pic for now its from above i had to quit for tonight stuck on the port, i need help with it i need a port tuned at liek 33-43 hz dimensions are 25.5 wide 15 high and 21.5 deep, thats where im stuck at , and i dunno how to do that its hard

    yea that would is no-bueno amigo, especially the slopping peices together cause thay are too small...but whatever floats your boat

    it doesnt matter, the glue is actually stronger than the wood so its like one peice, also its with biscutes that makes it even more stronger, if you were to break it it wouldnt break on the seam where they were put together, and none of it flexes so it doesnt matter

    They Ment the "kind" of wood, plywood will probably not sound as good as MDF..

    They Ment the "kind" of wood, plywood will probably not sound as good as MDF..
    does anyone have actuall proof im just wondering, i have a ported box made the same way sound EXCELLENT!!, no signs of wear after 3 months of use, no cracks, no leaks,

    also i have glue in the joints plus screws ever 2 inches, i like to be sure,

    what are u gonna put in it?
    type R for a few days, then AW1206t for a few days cuz its a christmas present, then around the 5th of jan or so i will get a new sub, no idea what kind yet,

    but plywood has different properties than mdf, so it will flex and sound differently, and yes the glue is often stronger than the wood, but is still causes a discontinuity in the surface... when building speakers discontinuity=bad

    Different properties yes.

    I'm using MDF for the Shiva's right now. I'll switch to a birch plywood box and we'll see if the judges drill me because it sounds different.

    Tried it, didn't make any difference in my application.

    Every application is different, so you must've (hopefully you've tried it ) had a different one.
