Anyone Want To Help Me With A Box Design?

I'm looking to build a ported box for 2 Pioneer TS-W305 subwoofers, but I'm not sure exactly how to make it. I want around 1.4 ft^3 net volume per sub, and tuned to around 30hz. I'm not sure if I should make the port out of PVC pipe or make a slot port, I have no idea how to make slot ports and I don't know how to figure port displacement for the PVC pipe. Would someone like to design a box for me, or at least point me in the right direction? I drive a 1994 Sentra, so trunk space is pretty limited.

    New setup in the works:
    Vehicle: 1999 Ford Windstar
    Head Unit: Pioneer Premier DEH-P860MP
Signal Processing: Profile Q100 3-Way active crossover, set to 80hz and 3.5khz
High Pass: the legendary Aura tweeters powered by a Pioneer GM-3000T
Band Pass: Ascendant Audio 6.5" Poly Midwoofers powered by a Pioneer GM-5000T
Low Pass: Elemental Designs 19Ov.2 in 3ft^3 tuned to 30hz, powered by a Power Acoustik 2APC-1400

Would you be willing to spend $8 for someone to do it all for you ?

    The design.
All you would need to do is make the box out of wood

Re: Anyone Want To Help Me With A Box Design?

$8? Not really. Really all I need is to know how to calculate port displacement. I'm going to be using 4" PVC pipe for the port.

Well I'm willing to learn, everyone has to start somewhere. I'm definitely a DIY kind of guy, I'm not about to pay someone to do something that I'll probably enjoy doing myself.

Re: Anyone Want To Help Me With A Box Design?

If you know what frequency and box volume you want to use you still need to have an idea of what size port you want to use (cross sectional area). For instance, with 2.8 ft^3 net box volume, tuned to 30 Hz, using a 4" diameter pvc pipe, the pipe would have to be 10.5" long.

I know that, but how much air would 10.5" of 4" PVC pipe displace?

Re: Anyone Want To Help Me With A Box Design?

    area of 4" pipe = (Pi)*(radius^2) = (3.14)*(2^2) = 12.56 in^2

    volume of 4" pipe, 10.5" long = (12.56in^2) * (10.5in) = 131.88 in^3

    convert cubic inches to cubic feet ---> 131.88/1728 = .076 ft^3

Alright thanks, with that formula making a ported box shouldn't be too hard.
