    Re: how many layer of fiberglass....

    depending on how much you can get fiberglass for, and how thick it is will be your deciding factor.

    at my local pep-boys i got 5~10oz fiberglass weave and 8~13oz fiberglass matte for ~$4 per pack (8'x8' packs) i ended up using ~10 or 15 packs of the fiberglass weave. i got sick of putting down rediclious ammounts of the stuff, so i bought some BIAXIAL fiberglass, its weave and matte stitched together and weighs almost 30oz. two or three layers of this will make an enclosure that you can throw a baseball at.

    there is a great auction on EBAY for this stuff here;
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT

    its more expensive than regular fiberglass, and there is a HELL of alot more. i would guess if you did buy 10 packs @ $4 a pack + tax, you would get close to this price. and you would use it all. this is a great investment - and you can fix peoples boats, cars, make enclosures, you name it.. and have left overs.

    but i would say around 5~10 layers depending on weight of 'normal' fiberglass. 5oz go with 7~10 layers (10 if its a flat area, less if its curvy and small) and vice versa- 10oz, go with 5~7 layers and the same rule applys for flat\curvy areas.

    flat fiberglas = weak
    curvy fiberglass = stong

    if possible, make the rear or the base, or both if you can out of MDF, you will save alot of time. in my trunk, the base is MDF and the rear\front is fiberglass\fleece. worked out amazing, just make sure you connect everything well, and sand out air bubbles.

    good luck, ask if you have any quesitons.
