1. ## Post Your Ported Box Dimensions For Everyone!

this thread is for people who want to make ported boxes, but dont have the know-how\information to port it themselves.

12^3 inches (1728") = 1 cubic foot
1 cubic foot = 28.3168 liters
1 liter = 4.2267 US cup
119.6883 US cups = 1 cubic foot

to measure 1 cubic foot, create a cube that is 12"x12"x12", or 12"^3

as for me, i have this;

box information;
fiberglass\mdf
1.2 cubic feet
ported to 37 hertz

port size(does not include width of MDF);
1.5 inches tall
13 inches deep
9 inches wide

building info;
if anyone wanted to use the portsize\volume, you would have to come up with dimensions for a rectangular box enclosure because i made mine out of fiberglass and it has an irrigular shape.

so please post your box dimensions for quick refrence to new users so that they can use plans that people have already made.

here is a picture of my enclosure- feel free to post pictures of yours.
(its not done yet)

picture of the port covered int excess resin before the fleecing

picture of it after fleece\before resin with my sub in to test fit

i hope this becomes a useful thread.

Ummm probably will not work. Every box needs to be different. Trunks/SUV's have different dimmensions. Now if two people had the same car same sub and same taste then this thread would be usefull. But thats a big negative right there.

I don't think you know what you are talking about. Granted his fiberglass enclosure is of no use to anyone, but most enclsoures are mostly universal. I think it would be useful.

13.5? umm 1 foot=12inches....so 1 cubic foot=12in^3 unless im missing something.

Thats going to confuse people when you don't state that is for 3/4 wood...

wood displacement mah man...

9. ## Re: Post Your Ported Box Dimensions For Everyone!

13.5 x 13.5 x 13.5 is one cubic foot on the insside of a box using .75 icnh wood

12x12x 12 inside dimensions is one cubic foot no matter whether you using .75 inch wood of 24 foot wide slabs of lead

and any measurement that yeilds 12x12x12 is one cube whether your measuring the outside of baox with those dimms (hence the outside of the box will be 1 cube)

an ac duct, a a solid block of wood... blah blah

to me it's best to think internal when it comes to boxs first... since that is all that really matters when figuring out ports, box volume ect..... only time external places apart is if it fits and if you have to those max dimms you done

10. ## Re: Post Your Ported Box Dimensions For Everyone!

i like to start with the max external dimentions first, then work my way down from there.

Exactly....9/10 Im trying to stay under the window line and working with specific dimensions in mind.
I dont think the comp programs are worth a sh it as far as in car response. There isnt anything better than real world testing IMO.

but that is not how to measure a cubic foot =)

that is how to measure a cubic foot AND its outer dimensions if you make it out of wood that is a certain thickness (that was not specified i believe)

BUT! most boxes arent built inside the trunk. and most boxes are just a general rectangle\cube shape. so if you post your box dimensions\wood thickness\sub displacement\port area&size ect, somone will prolly be able to use it.

and the sub dosnt really matter because all boxes are generally universal, a 12" XXX has basically the same displacement as a 12" brahma. and even if its off by .05ft^3, it should still work well and be off by 1 or 2 hz.

so maybe somone can use what you have come up with- say you have a SUV, and they have a SUV- most likely, your box will fit in their storage area. so if everyone posts box dimensions, more than likely somone will be able to benefit from this thread and not waste 5 days calculating a bunch of stuff. and i bet it will only take you maybe 2 minutes to recall your dimensions, and hell, you prolly have pictures anyway. so be nice and share

13. ## Re: Post Your Ported Box Dimensions For Everyone!

outside - 19.5x19.5x37.5
port - 18x4= 72^2"in. of port area.

14. ## Re: Post Your Ported Box Dimensions For Everyone!

w=37
h=17
d1=19
d2=24
2ports=9x4
72in^2port area
3-12's

15. ## Re: Post Your Ported Box Dimensions For Everyone!

i think length of port needs to posted along with tuning freq to really make this thing work.

later today i will measure the external dimensions of my x- cab silverado box for a single ten.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ee
