    2-10" hcca box pics

noone really answered me in the other thread. would a 5ft^3 @ 33Hz with 47.25in^2 port be good for 2 10"hcca's? orion suggests 1.4ft/sub @35Hz. also they are rated @1200w...how much would they be able to handle in a bigger box? i put the numbers in BBP6, but i don't know how to read the graphs. if someone could tell me how to read the graphs i would appreciate that, cause i would like to do it on my own. ok now here's the pics so far...

Box may be a tad bit on the larger side, but should still slam hard. Should get some nice, deep lows out of it.

    Re: 2-10" hcca box pics

you could cut a peice of mdf about 8" wide with 45 degree angles on either end and put it in one corner of the box, and seal it to the top and bottom. cheaper than building a new box, and still cuts down on air space.

just remember, as you add stuff in there, your tuning is going to raise also. I agree on the putting 45 degree angles in the box though

    Re: 2-10" hcca box pics

you could always just adjust the length of the port to compensate for tuning.

you would just have to do a little trig and figure out the area of the corner that you used and work off of the left over airspace.

    Re: 2-10" hcca box pics

so how big do you all suggest for the box size? i've heard around here that 2.5ft/sub was a nice size for the HCCA's, because they like big boxes.

    Re: 2-10" hcca box pics

5 cubes sounds a little big for 2 10's regardless of what they are (well, almost regardless)

I'd take it down to about 4 cubes for the whole box.

thats just me though, anyone with experience with these subs could tell you better though.

    Re: 2-10" hcca box pics

what would you think about just making the port longer? taking it across the back. it would make the port longer, and the box smaller both at the same time. i played with the numbers and a can take it about 11" across the back, drop the volume to a little over 4ft, and be tuned to 30Hz. does that sound better?

Could make a plug, or an extension for it!

    Re: 2-10" hcca box pics

i made the port longer, and also i put another piece of 3/4 mdf on the baffle (now it 1 1/2")
and flush mounted the subs all of that brought the box volume down to around 4 ft. tuned to about 32-32Hz. i've got it done, its at work right now and i'm on lunch. i'm gonna take my camera back with me and take some pics.

    Re: 2-10" hcca box pics

I haven't finished building my box for my HCCA 12D yet but from recommendations from a guy who tried at least a dozen boxes for his 12D I build it to Orions SPL box SIZE....changed the port tuning and length and area and all. For my sub that's 2.5 which is the largest of the three 12" boxes Orion reco's. For the 10" the largest they reco is 1.8 so that's what I would try myself. Tuning it to 32-34hz maybe.
