1. ## Orion HCCA Box plans....Can someone check it out?

Okay...after lots of reading, searching and calculating I came up with this....

for a 2000 Orion HCCA 12D

2.5 cu/ft tuned to 30 HZ
14.5X2.5X35.49 (after port correction) internal port measurements

The box will be made of 3/4" MDF

outer dimensions

Height 16
Width 25.96672
Depth 19.25

I am mounting the sub on the long panel and having my slot on this plane running vertical using the side and back enclosure wall as part of the slot.

The port displacement is 871.8125 going back and then 90 degrees to the right is 765.31.

Bracing I will use 96cu/in total (8 4"sqaures cut into triangles and used in corners) and the sub displaces 244 cu/in.

A total 1977.1225 cu/in = 1.144168 cu/ft of displacement.

Did I screw this up or am I right? Thanks in advance.

(36.25 * 1.84 x 10^8)/ (2.5 * 1728 * (30/.159)^2 ) - (.823 * sqrt 36.25 (port area )
=38.41532

port correction
38.41532 - 1.25 = 37.16

PLV= 37.16

thats what i get doing it by hand and using your port area of 14.5*2.5 and your box volume of 2.5 ft^3

means you port displacements are off also didn't look at your displacements but it is down the middle of the port

hope this helps

Using winISD Pro I got 36.74 as the length. I subtracted 1.25 from that. Is this software unreliable for calculating Port Length?????

I then tried http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 which game me 37.2 which is very close to your number with correction. Math looks good on your equation....now I need to readjust my width and will post when I have new numbers. Thanks.

yeah i always get diff numbers from winisd it it not real good for doing port length i just always do it by hand as most others do.

do you have the pro update its gets a little closer to the numbers done by hand

I have the latest version on the linearteam website. I tried to update it through the software but says its the latest version. So only if it was available elsewhere then I have the most recent.

ps remember when figureing your dispaclement it is down the center of the port

Can you elaborate on that? I remember a thread with a picture.....the first part goes back down a 16" piece.....I measured 3.25X18.5X14.5(inner height) for the first part and the new second part is 3.25X18.66X14.5

Thanks for the link! Didn't have that version.

New version gives me 41.71 inches though!

Second link was the picture I was talking about. So....from that picture...port length starts at the opening in the middle and makes a left but your displacement doesn't start until the inisde of where the MDF would be if it went straight across the front baffle?????

14. ## Re: Orion HCCA Box plans....Can someone check it out?

same + .75 if it does not but against the baffle but sits on the outside just it behind the baffle and butted right against it this way you get .75 inches more room to mount the subs

Mat
