    Re: different types of enclosures

wondering why some people are so quick to bash... can't a fellow car audio enthusiast as a particular question without having someone come sideway at him/her... i understand the "search" button and the many suggested "search engines" ... but sometimes those textbook materials isn't what we're looking for.. isn't better to hear it from someone how actually "been there, done that".. from one audio fan to another.. loosen up..

    Re: different types of enclosures

Lots of types... you have your basic sealed and ported, and of course the "no enclosure" infinite baffle, then your 4th and 6th order bandpass, then your snailshell, transmission line, then abc... and horn loaded, compression, stuff like that.
In-car, a well designed sealed box will easily yield the best SQ all around. All the others can all either be designed to get extremely loud, or to have a nice flat response over certain frequencies. I dont know too much about alot of them though.

    well see thats just it.
i read the text materials, reviewed old posts & archives in 4 car audio forums and talked to the guys in the local shops. then and only then do i post a question here about a specific aspect or problem. why? becuase it'll be alot easier get a SPECIFIC answer then from someone about your SPECIFIC question then trying to decipher 45 different opinionated responses because no one else is really sure of your skill level.
For example, see the debates about slot=vent=port=round vented enclosures. 35 people arguing for 3 days over what a certain type of enclosure is called even though they all serve the same god ****ed purpose. All the while, the poor ****ing newb who asked the question never gets their question answered. Gee, I wonder where that newb went to get an answer after everyone ignored them for the sake of arguing... i'm willing to bet they went to some text somewhere.

This is not a wewillteachyoueverythingaboutcaraudio.com site. This is a forum, for advice, support, brainstorming, and general convesation.
In college (or high school or whatever) would you go to a Pep rally and start asking everyone what 2+2 equals??

Sorry. To step on toes, dont mean to, but christ, very few things that are worth doing are GIVEN to you.

    [/rant.]

and yes, to date i've made prolly a couple dozen ported; 2 isobaric's; a dozen or so sealed; 1 attempted 6th order bp; and currently trying to digest the math behind a rear loaded horn (snailshell). All of that doesnt represent any of the effort put into each install though.

    Re: different types of enclosures

i understand that there are things in which a person will have to learn (on his/her own).. everyone started at the bottom.. no one person will get it the first time around..

yes.. i've read through many forums.. talked with many local shops.. read numerous reviews.. though a newbie myself.. through many trials and error.. i must say i've learn quite a bit..

but bashing upon those who have little to no knowledge (like myself or others) isn't something to be proud about.. everyones on here to either help or be helped (i would presume).. i would understand if i was asking the repetitious questions (ex. sub x v.s. sub y / what db will i hit / prices for ??? / etc.)

back to topic.. i just wanted a thread that show various types of enclosures and their pros/cons... i don't think thats too much to ask..

    oh well....
