    Pathetic/Pansy/Preposterous Jigsaw

Yes, the blade is sharp. Yes, it is the correct blade. Yes, I'm ticked off.

Anyways, I went to try and cut something today ... and my jigsaw decides to ride along the edge of the wood. You physically have to move the whole tool up and down and press into the wood with a great force in order for it to cut anything, which in turn heats up both the tool and blade way to quickly of course. Haven't used it in a while, but I don't remember it ever doing this. It's an older Black & Decker model.

Guess I need one of those orbital action jigsaws.

I tell ya ... I needed this piece today ... and right now I'm sick of my drill. I went along the line and drilled holes very close together, then stuck the drill down every 3-4 holes and pushed it either way to rid of the wood in between the holes.

Ah well. If you don't have any suggestions that work, guess it's time for a fire.

You can get some decent ones for around $30 at Home Depot.

    *smacks himself* Woops, sorry Steve.

    Re: Pathetic/Pansy/Preposterous Jigsaw

Eh, don't worry ... I'm heading off on vacation next week so I'll be able to pick up a few items at Home Depot.

    Jigsaw isn't in the budget.

Gonna be one ugly mounting ring for one nice subwoofer. Oh well. Going to be fleeced over anyways. Nothing Bondo can't fix.

If i could make a recommendation, if you are going to be getting a jigsaw, look into Milwaukee's line. Very solid saws. I have one at the shop i work at and it works very nicely.

    Re: Pathetic/Pansy/Preposterous Jigsaw

Normally I'd be using a router or bandsaw to make the cut. Or even the table saw. Yes, you can cut circles with a table saw.

Stupid jigsaw. Makes me angry. The one time I try to use it, it fails.

Thanks for the Milwaukee suggestion. I'll give this POS one more try and then pick something new out.

    Re: Pathetic/Pansy/Preposterous Jigsaw

We do have a CNC ... I just wasn't going to drive 25 minutes and set it up to make one cut that is easier to do with a jigsaw

Oh, BTW, if you don't mind me asking ... how much was that Viper amp and what do you think of it ?

    Re: Pathetic/Pansy/Preposterous Jigsaw

haha, yea i use my dads cnc's hes got a shop so thats a nice luxury for a little box building on the weekends.

I got the viper refurbed on ebay from "competition soundworks" based in california. It is a great amp so far as im only running it at 2ohm on my single sub until the second comes in and my box gets built, then i could give a full rundown of its full power at 1ohm. Paid 280 i believe after shipping, pretty good price i think.

more of the same up for auction right here

    Re: Pathetic/Pansy/Preposterous Jigsaw

    Yeah, that is a good price. Reason I ask, I'm looking for a cheaper 1000-1500ish x 1 @ 1ohm amp. $280 seems decent.

No wonder their drills are only $50 for a 14.4v in the flyer ...

I'll try one more blade and tighten everything up before I head out for vacation on Monday.
